Forums - Nintendo - Ah crap... I think I have to buy a DS for FFIV :(

So you want a DS just to play a 17 year old game on an itty bitty screen?

Makes perfect sense.

Sometimes I really wish this forum had an ignore feature.  I think I already clarified my distate for itty bitty screens.... but as for being a 17 year old game....

It's a remake with new content, conversion to 3d, and new gameplay features of the best or second best Final Fantasy ever released.  I would much rather play an FFIV remake than the garbage that square has been putting out since FFX+

It's also the game that made me love the RPG genre.  Take your attitude and stuffit

WHy dont you just buy a DS because it's awesome. That's reason enough.

OK, I am *loving* this remake with a couple of caveats :

*Because the touchscreen activity is so banal, I'd have actually preffered this on the PSP (if they're not doing something novel with the controls like, say, Magical Starsign (which I *loved* for its touchscreen input), I'll take the aural and graphical fidelity of the PSP anyday or, better yet, put the damn re-makes on a bloody console!)

*I keep reading how this game is much harder than the SNES-original FF2/4 but I don't see it. Granted, I haven't played this far into the game since 1992, but it seems stupidly easy to me (I'm about 8 hours in and I'm just running over the game, and exploring every corner of every map as my gaming OCD demands).

Other than that, it's top-notch stuff and a good argument for Square-Enix to continue doing ground-up re-makes (too bad Chrono Trigger is mostly a 1:1 port after playing this).

So, yes, do go buy a DS to play this and then get into the massive catalogue of games you've been missing for years now!

Note: I'm terribly biased towards FFIV (favorite SE game of all time) but damn if I'm not loving nearly every minute of it.

FFIV is a must buy... Nice Graphics and 3-d world

Well, there's also the million new games....they are just icing on the cake, when deciding on a console it goes = DS > Everything else > I'm not gonna add which console I think goes here.

The DS pwns, l2p.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Damn those tiny screens

I see what you're saying, it would be great to have a Final Fantasy remake on home console, but then maybe it's handheld or nothing? Like you say they have a budget to stick to. I've never found the small screens a problem, once you get started the screen size is never an issue. The only problem I’ve had is screen brightness (on the original GBA in particular), I’ve had some bad cramps from leaning at strange angles just for a bit of lamp light in the past. In the handhelds defense I've had more fun with the DS than the PS3 or Wii… and light isn’t a problem anymore.

Two screens allows for things to be larger :)

I've owned every Current Gen console this round. The only two that have survived my trade in fits are my DS and my Wii... pretty soon it will probably be just the DS.

It has never let me down, there are so many good RPGs and strategy games.  If you get the DS check out Twewy.  Short but sweet.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Best FF remake yet!!!!

Wait, I thought WoW was being sarcastic?
