IGN also posted this info, but also added some info on the DS:

http://au.wii.ign.com/articles/892/892899p1.html

The week commencing 6 July was the highest individual week of sell through for Nintendo DS hardware in Australia, with more than 49,000 units sold. This is the largest single week sell through ever, for any console in Australia.

Nintendo DS currently has an install base of more than 1.2 million units, which demonstrates that Nintendo DS continues to be the popular choice for all consumers.

Does anybody know why DS sold such a huge amount of consoles at the start of July?

From another thread:

With school holidays here, and an advertising blitz (plus "stock") I'm not surprised the last few weeks have been "huge".

Even with these conditions it is still ridiculous to sell more consoles in July than during the holidays.

^ true, but my guess is it will beat that this holiday season. 49,000 in one week for Australia is crazy though. It does seem strange that it sold that much in July.

Wowowow, 49k DSes! That's on par with Japan o.0

i just checked VGChartz for Aus at 456K for wii. So like about 10% off.

So not a bad job considering how hard it would be to get a more accurate reading out of AUS.

well done guys.

OMG, Nintendo is undertracked in Australia for Wii and DS 0_0

hehe it isn't suprising consideirng how small we are and it be hard to get a reliable source.

So in reality VGChartz been doing great for so little access to data.
