Microsoft should have copied this distrobution strategy for Shadowrun.

I do love my shadowrun, but it catches too much flakk for its price...

I've been saying that since the day they announced Shadowrun pricing. Look at the sales it still sold decent for a game with so much negative hype around it. If it was priced like Warhawk (20-30$ range) then it would have sold insanely well on Xbox Live.

The fact is the core of this problem is again the core system which doesn't have a hard drive thus holding MS back from releasing a game that is fully downloadable so that Core owners aren't excluded.

MS should have gone with one SKU: The Premium, no Elite and no Core which both seem pointless. After a while they should have added features to the premium and sold it as the new premium for the same price...

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

more then 1 sku is ok as long as the differances have no affect on games, like the PS3.

Boxart looks pretty nice.

Why are they releasing it on BR though? If it's small enough to be downloaded, then surely it would fit on a DVD, which would be much cheaper to produce.

As far as I know, actual PS3 games cannot run on anything except Blu-Ray.  Blu-Ray production prices have gone down more than you would think as well.

There are multiple reasons I can think of for distributing it physically:

1. To raise awareness about the game. Consumers like stuff they can see on the shelves, simple as that. It is much harder to entice people to buy a system for something that they can only "see" after they purchase the system.

2. To provide a headset option. I think they are doing this with SOCOM too. They didn't have a first party one, so this is a good place to offer one, and it is at a good price, which is why I am opting for this package.

3. For extra features. Dev comments, making of, etc. Maybe some more goodies that I haven't heard about.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

When is it coming out exactly?

Personally, I'll probably pick up the box, cause I prefer having the box to the game, and of course I get a headset (although I'll rarely use it)

They can run off the HDD, thats where the Warhawk Beta and Home betas run off of. It makes sure there is no lag.  So the game will most likely install to the HDD from the BR Disc. Most of the downloadable games like Calling all Cars and stuff all have the PS3 logo on them at start up.

The bundle features behind the scenes videos, trailers of up coming games,  and all the Warhawk trailers up to now all in HD. Plus it has the headset.
