Forums - Nintendo - Forbes: Nintendo`s Game May Be Over

LOL @ everybody says last gen was a battle between PS2 and Xbox. So, the Xbox sold about 2 million consoles more than the Gamecube, so it's easily beaten the GameCube, aye?

Fact is, PS2 owned both consoles and the Cube and Xbox practically tied.

Why are we making fun of this analyst? He was predicting the outcome of the GC era, and he was dead on.

Wow Forbes got rocked.

I personally believe nowadays I know more about the market and sales trends then these analysts that are paid to do all this. It's pathetic what some of them will say.

they were quite right actually, cause the GC turned out to get the last place, and MS beated Nintendo even without having a Japanese market; so it's not fanboyish at all

The article is exactly as right as one I would write saying HD consoles are doomed because they stuck to the small hardcore gaming market, and not the much bigger casual one.

The gamecube made the most profit, the GBA was a megaton, and from a business perspective(which is what forbes writes about, no?) Nintendo has owned every other company in the business since the beginning of time without ever faultering once.

So, yeah, Forbes is always right.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

@ People saying the article was right. Of course in terms of marketshare it was, but in terms of profitablility not really. Nintendo made as much or more on the GC +GBA than Sony did on the ps2. So I don't know. I guess it depends on what your goals are. Also the article was pretty much predicting nintendo as dieing, yet they were far from right in that aspect. Oh and I didn't care too much for saying mario and zelda target kids, when that is true, but they fail to recognize that both also target adults.

Oh that's fair.  Let's add the GBA to the GC and say that they made more profit.

Yeah, not fair at all! That "adding the products together" technique is stolen straight from the Sony spinbook!

And then you look at the profits (or losses) that these companies earned in the videogame market, and know who's really a winner and who's really a loser.

that's when nintendo was making it's best games. A magnificent moment to be a gamer, and some really good years for me.

Nintendo will never die :)

Where does this article mention that Nintendo won't make a profit? Where did I mention anything about Nintendo being also third in matters of profit?

And for the people claiming the article was right, remember that Forbes readers care about profit and stock, not marketshare.

Where did the artcile mention anything about Nintendo being third in matters of marketshare (only)?
