Forums - Nintendo - Forbes: Nintendo`s Game May Be Over

The article is quite right though... at that time, it was a battle between PS2 and Xbox. Nintendo lost that war with the game cube and the PS2 went on to be the dominant console selling almost 130 million units till date.

@ People saying the article was right. Of course in terms of marketshare it was, but in terms of profitablility not really. Nintendo made as much or more on the GC +GBA than Sony did on the ps2. So I don't know. I guess it depends on what your goals are. Also the article was pretty much predicting nintendo as dieing, yet they were far from right in that aspect. Oh and I didn't care too much for saying mario and zelda target kids, when that is true, but they fail to recognize that both also target adults.

Oh that's fair.  Let's add the GBA to the GC and say that they made more profit.

And for the people claiming the article was right, remember that Forbes readers care about profit and stock, not marketshare.

I said = or > than. Also when predicting the doom of something I think they would have to lose money. I wan't even comparing nintendo to sony really. Just saying that there was no "doom for nintendo" like the article was making it out to be.

Wow. those were the good days.

Goes to show that you can go from the bottom to the top, and vice versa very easily.

We may rise and fall, but in the end we meet our fate together.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Well, after the relative failure of the N64 (compared to the PSone) and then the huge failure of the Gamecube (compared to the PStwo and even the xbox) it did seem that nintendo, console-wise, had shot their load.

How they bounced back

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD
