I'm going to second Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. If you like SRPG's it is one of the best out there.

If you're into strategy you NEED Fire Emblem. Yes, it's damn hard, but so rewarding. Furthermore RE4 Wii, Godfather, Scarface, Metroid 3 seem to fit your tastes.
Oh and what's unique about the Wii is that it has lightgun shooters. RE:UC, House of the Dead and Ghost Squad are great (buy a Nyko perfect shot with it).
Online Mario Kart is perfect. Really perfect.

Also I just got Geometry Wars: Glaxies and Mercury Meltdown Revolution. You may like them. I'll try them out when I get the chance and let you knoe how they play. Also you may be able to find Red Steel in a sin bin for $10 or less, that may be worth a whirl.

4 to 8 games for your PS3. That is what you are giving up by purchasing a Wii.
metroid prime 3, I'm a huge fan and recomend it. I also enjoyed no more heroes because I like grasshopper, and you should pick up dbz tenkaichi 3 if you like a good fighting game.
No one mentioned Blast Works that game really rocks.
Buy Wii Play for an extr mote and you may give Wii Fit a try, since there's upcoming games that will make use of the board.

Yeah, I have. I like it a lot. RE:UC is better, but HotD is a great lightgun game. Rumors are that Time Crisis is coming to wii as well. Wouldn't surprise me if you look at the sales of lightgun games on Wii.
For the type of games that he likes no one has mentioned Manhunt 2. It's pretty darned violent.
