The whole point is shes not super hot. A girl with giant boobs and pouty lips would scream: "We still want to attract 18 year old males." Jenna Jameson types would immediately repel that specific audience that Nintendo is now trying to attract.

Again, these commercials are for Brain Age -- they're for adults. The goal was NOT to get a super sexy woman, but to find a classy woman who looked appropriate and sophisticated. They chose very wisely.

Seriously though, I think she's a perfect choice and then some in terms of reaching the target audience. And the message itself is brilliant for that demographic too: "Hey, my brain (and by extension, myself) is NOT that old! I'd better go buy this and play it until I can get it to tell me my brain's in its 20's (and by extension, I can pretend I'm that young myself in some sense)!" And Kidman is the one offering this logic, an attractive woman with class that many women want to feel in-league with.

That's the thing though -- "hot" has slutty connotations to begin with. Elegant? Beautiful? Classy? Those are words that can be used to describe women as sexually appealing without implying an almost cromagnon aesthetic. 

I would not describe Nicole Kidman as "hot," just as I wouldn't say she's "totally fly." Young people may think that "Sexy" and "Beautiful" and "Hot" and "The Bomb" mean the same thing, but each has distinct connotations. Would you call a girl "handsome?" If not, why? BECAUSE IT'S FOR GUYS OMG! But technically, all of these definitions are nearly identical, and it's only connotation that allows us to differentiate.
