Forums - Gaming - Nintendo Wii moves into top 10 in all-time console sales.

only 110 millions to go.

Nintendo never said that the Wii would be the highest selling console of all time. Sony, on the other hand, said that their goal for the PS3 is to sell 150 million consoles just the other day.

the gameboys do not count as consoles. they are handhelds. so technically the Wii is in the top 10 for CONSOLES. which is what the thread title says. "top 10 in all-time console sales."

wow, why does Sega's last report concerning Genesis say it shipped 30.75m yet this reports that this many years later they have only sold 29m. Are there still ~1.75m sitting on retails shelves?

I think these numbers need to be clarified with http://vgchartz.com/worldcons.php where we can see the last shipped figures. The last fiscal report is from 2007 and all of those should easily be 'sold' by now, in fact the current gen machines have higher sales than those shipped figures by now.

I wish ioi would update that page with the last couple of reports.

GBA SP sales are included in GBA sales so cut it out from the list.

thats true. It should be taken out of the list then. But Wikipedia does have the sales for the SP seperately. So I think thats where I made the mistake. Because under the GBA wiki it says "all versions combined."

As for the original Game Boy numbers. They include the regular gameboy, game boy color and game boy pocket.

Look at the PSP! It's in the top 10!

The DS and DS lite are considered one system, but the GBA and GBA SP aren't? What kind of nonsense is that?

these sites say 29 million SEGA Genesis units sold. Hard to really say whos number are more accurate. If only SEGA would make a site showing their systems' worldwide sales numbers.

top 10????
think u see the 3 as a 0!

Wii is in the top 10 for CONSOLES. Hand helds and home computes do not count in this regard.

I think their fiscal report is the most accurate. That is why the vgc data from the link above must be the most accurate. Those sites you reference are referncing the last media discussion about the Genesis, whereas the vgc one is for the last total number of units shipped, which by now MUST be equal to sold.
