While it doesn't dound like much of a gap, that extra 40,000 consoles a month+the years headstart, has led to massively improved third party support

Hi, i'm solojohlo and i'm pretty fucking awesome

Actually the Xbox360 is leaving the Xbox1 behind, the gap is increasing monthly and so long as the sales increase every year like they have it should outsell it easily.

Tease.

NO the third paty support came , because 1 The 360 had a year lead over the other consoles and 2 The leading console this generation is still confusing 3rd party developers and they haven't decided what to do with it yet, so they just develop multiplats for the ps360. It has nothing to do with better sales. Last gne the ps2 had the advantage of a year lead, and high sales to back it up. Also the ps2 didn't look to be only for casual gamers as the wii is now(even though its not).

How many holiday seasons in NA are covered by the respective system? I think that could influence the sales a lot.

I read a couple of developers comments on beyond3d - they said, "The best tool for the PS3 is an Xbox360 development kit"

I kinda think the tools help, and the ease of porting between the Xbox360 and the PC and the ease of development surely must also reduce costs as well. For example - The Xbox360 version of Farcry 2 required 3 developers whereas the PS3 version required 14. This would obviously reduce costs and make it worthwhile to develop on the system even when the sales numbers are lower.

@sc

It helps that the 360 usually generates a lot of sales for 3rd party titles.

oh, and aligning the two by launch gives you an advantage of 4,X million.

It helps that MS is willing to pay third parties for support.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

I wonder if these shorter life spans will help the HW in the long run and help the next Xbox. Yes, yes, it was a major good move this time for the 360, but what about the next system?
