To add to this, would Blu-ray have won if it wasn't built in the PS3?

Everybody saying that the PS3 is the reason behind Blu's win is correct, but that's only part of the story. Early on, Sony was actually willing to let other companies get in on the game, and to take a share of the money from Blu Ray. Several other companies sell players, recorders, etc, in fact the only thing that sony really has in this is a set royalty from every Blu disc sold.

Contrast that to Toshiba basically being the only company selling H-Dud players and the only company that will profit from H-duds win ( which would be quite an assumption to say the least).

HD DVD would never of won the format war if it was built in the X360. X360's would of cost a lot more.

I have a funny feeling that another video format will come to challenge Blu-ray. Probably in about 5-6 years.

You do realize that Sony had to license LCD tech from Samsung right....

That is even more hilarious. I have a 1080p Sharp Aquos and the Sony equivalent was $500 more. I thought the pictures looked the same. I guess they were the same after all.
