Everybody saying that the PS3 is the reason behind Blu's win is correct, but that's only part of the story. Early on, Sony was actually willing to let other companies get in on the game, and to take a share of the money from Blu Ray. Several other companies sell players, recorders, etc, in fact the only thing that sony really has in this is a set royalty from every Blu disc sold.
Contrast that to Toshiba basically being the only company selling H-Dud players and the only company that will profit from H-duds win ( which would be quite an assumption to say the least).
