Forums - Sales - Famitsu reports japanese psp sales in China

I just commented on this in another thread. When I was in HK 18 months ago, the PSP was selling like crazy - and it came "pre-hacked" and with a bunch of games. I believe all/most of the PSPs came from Japan (the same applied to the DS, but it didn't seem as popular).

I don't know if the sales from Japan are THAT high, but it could be significant - most of the sales from all over Asia come from Japan (as its just a lot cheaper).

PSP has been officially released in Hong Kong along with 360 & PS3. Most consoles in Asia are imported from Hong Kong as this is where they are cheapest (no taxes). The only exception is the Wii (and possibly DS) as that hasn't been released in Hong Kong, so most imports are from Japan, but US consoles are available too as some prefer to have one from that region, although I don't know why as I guess it's region free once chipped.

PSP has been officially released in most Asian countries (Mainland China being the exception), so PSP only really gets exported from Hong Kong to Mainland China and maybe some small countries. 360 & PS3 get exported from Hong Kong all over Asia though.

I'm not too sure if DS has been released in Hong Kong or not, I'll find out where they come from next time I go to a game store.

Those numbers seem to be a bit to high IMO ... is there any official link ?
