Forums - Sales - Is the PSP dying in the US market?

This is a complete coming soon list from Gamestop.

The lack of software leads me to believe that this may be the last Holiday season for the PSP. Is piracy entirely to blame for the system's demise or was it just marketed wrong?

The problem is it's very easy to hack, and steal all the games. Who wants to develop for a system like that?

It's a drought I say! it's the worst year for PSP since launch I say!

Part of the problem is piracy, the other part might be because the DS versions cost less, very often.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

So how do you solve the piracy problem?

Very true, I'm guessing that is also the reason for the not so stellar sales PSP games get?

I guess EA still makes games, but they would make games calculators if they had a way to put them on there. j/k

pirac really hurts the psp

tag:"reviews only matter for the real hardcore gamer"

I thought the slim models were supposed to fix the piracy problem. I haven't heard anything about those systems being hackable, or at least not as easily as the original models. Plus after watching Sony's E3 I think even they have lost faith in it, most of the stuff they showed off were known titles. Plus a lack of a price drop also shows me that maybe they are just milking it out until they can get a succesor ready.

I don't know if you can "solve" the piracy problem, but maybe some unique hardware inside that makes it difficult for even an above average thief to steal a game would help immensely. Of course there will be assholes that decide to put a video up on youtube on how to do it, but at least the thieves would have to work to steal the games.

edit: and announcing a price drop at E3 isn't something that any of the 3 companies is likely to do.  And we were promised 12 new games at Leipzig, so expect some of them to be on the psp.

they should have made it so PSP games could be pirated so easily. I have a PSP and all the games I have, I only have 4(well, technically 5 or 6) games but they are all legitament copies and not pirated

Problem solver? PSP DRM!!!  and the circle continues, lol.
