The latest 1UP E3 wrap-up podcast (which runs for a more-than-lengthy 3 hours) has divulged some information on the possibility of a new PlayStation 3 exclusive from Square Enix. Towards the end of the podcast, Shane states that he has been speaking to representatives from Square Enix, who have told him that "Final Fantasy XIII on 360 announcement swung the ball towards Microsoft. At Square Enix's Japan event in 2 weeks, they will swing the ball back towards Sony".

The reason Shane was questioning the event, was due to plans for large announcements regarding the Blu-ray release of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Square could possibly be announcing a remake of Final Fantasy VII for PS3, a Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children game for PS3, Final Fantasy Versus XIII on PS3, or another brand new title.

All I know is I won´t be getting my hopes up too much.

These things have a tendency to end up being far less exciting than the internet speculates.

So let me see. Square Enix shows it doesn't have faith in the PS3's install base, especially in the US, and therefore they'll announce another PS3 exclusive. Does make lots of sense indeed.

SE PR guy just stated there is nothing except FFXIII ands versus FXIII that will come to PS3 in the next years. Maybe on PSP but not on PS3.

More important, they stated FFVII remake was not even considered.

(I also hope PS3 will have plenty SE of games, exclusive, including a FF remake (why not ...)
but, I dont know why, I'm guessing it wil not happen.

I hope not. Enough with the remakes already. I mean, I've preordered IV and will get Chrono Trigger (though that's more of a port+). But they should just remake VI on DS and then call it a day with that stuff for at least a few years.

I would prefer something new and mega-awesome enough to make me buy a PS3. I am already on the verge thanks to LBP.

They havent actually announced it, it says that they maybe will annouce a final fantasy game for ps3 but think we shouldnt get our hopes up beacuse it could be anything so its better to wait.
