Forums - Nintendo - 1UP preview: The Conduit

Is it just me or does all the new topics all related to this game have like 75% of the posts from PS3 or 360 fans just bashing how horrid it looks.

Stick to your own games, if you don't like a game don't go in the topics to just bash about it.

'Tis true, they do! So it's not just you. But you already knew that, didn't you? Just let them, they can't stand the fact that Wii will have a FPS that will control infinitely better than their HD offerings, on top of the fact that the game will actually be able to display colours, unlike said HD offerings.

Honestly, they must be scared or something? To make such a fuss over it. Geez. Let it go already, people.

I never thought a single game could make a fanboy fight. This game has something different than other games that are comming to the Wii and even the exclusive ones.

Until now the Wii has been so-so wit hthird party titles. Most Wii ports feel like a quick cash-in lazy efforts that just have waggle to say it's a wii game. And then when we look at most exclusives, they ara aimed to more "retarded" gameplay or bad marketing. So far, while the wii still remains successful, the PS3/360 fanboys felt "pretty safe" because most "hardcore" games are being released on the HD systems or have the best version of a multiplatform title and Wii fanboys felt "cheated" and this has been a status quo.

When this game appears, it shows a huge potential of great graphics and gameplay oa Nintendo console. This game has cought so much attention from fanboys, they all seem to wonder what will happen is thid games sell like crazy. Some Wii fanboys believe that this game will mark the begining of great third party exclusives because they will know that they can make a graphically good game on Wii that will be very successful in sales, so they placed their high hopes and support to it. While some PS3/360 fanboys believe that if this game sells, other third party will notice sna switch resources to make great Wii games which will result in less HD games, so they bash it and think of all names and swearing to minimize the developers efforts.

.....

Both sides are wrong. While this game looks pretty good graphic and gameplay wise (and I hope it sells well because the developers deserve it after all that work) , it won't be a flaship title. This game is just one of many games that are comming to the Wii that will make core gamres happy. Developers are switching, but not to the alarming point. Most developers want to be successful in ALL THREE SYSTEMS

The graphics are constantly being enhanced and polished, in the single month period between which the debut trailer was released and scenes were displayed at E3 we saw a huge increase in quality of the graphics.

Montana, you have every right to be aprehensive with these early screenshots, but this game will most likely make you glad to recant your first impressions when the final product arrives.

DMeisterJ, no surprise seeing you trying to bash this game and call a game, no more generic than any other FPS, "generic" as if it honestly stands out in mediocrity anymore than any gray scale bloom saturated environment in any of our HD FPSs.

Halo - Alien Invasion
Gears of War - Alien Invasion
Resistance - Alien Invasion
Half-Life - Alien Invasion
Unreal Tournament - Alien Invasion

Tom Clancy - Warfare
Call of Duty - Warfare

Killzone 2 - Sci-Fi War
Haze - Sci-Fi War
Bioshock - Sci-Fi War

With a genre as generic and bland as FPSs typically are you of all people wait for Nintendo to get their own before you start calling them on this? Bullshit.

Sorry, the Wii is going to win this generation no matter the games in question may be and pave the groundwork for a Nintendo console next generation which will most likely dominate in a way that will rival the NES's monopoly. I'm sorry you prefer the HD consoles (after all many do), this is reality, Nintendo's Wii has the means to expand into all Markets, the PS3 and 360 simply don't. So while the PS3 and 360 make feigned attempts at trying to rally the casual crowd with gimmicky controllers and kiddy games, Nintendo is the only company with any potential to actually expand beyond its limited horizons.

This is a messy generation for all three consoles and there will be much missed out on for all three when it comes to certain games. Get used to it.

I'll reply to the comment made directly at me, cause I don't understand the point of the rest of the post.  Must have been pretty hard to type with all of the tears streaming down your face I suppose.

I'm bashing this game?  I said on numerous occasions that I'm looking forward to seeing what HVS can do with the Wii.  I have stated that the game has bland textures.  That is true.  I have stated that the game is generic compared to any other FPS on the market.  Which again is true.  I also have stated that this is the first game of it's kind on the Wii, so I can see why Wii-only owners are excited for the game, as the system is starved for FPSs which is true

So, again, how am I bashing the game?

Is complementing the character detail bashing?  Is being excited for the game bashing?

For some reason you (and lots of people) seem to believe that everyone is against HVS and The Conduit, when in reality, we're all hoping for the same thing: A damn good FPS.  Don't confuse apprehension with hate.

I should also add:

PS360 owners weren't calling this game generic until Wii owners were trying to pump the game up saying that it looked on par, if not better than XBOX 360/PS3 games.  Up until that point, everything was cool, but when they wanted to compare the game graphically to 360 games, we had to shut it down.  Yes the game looks good, but nowhere close to a Gears, or a Killzone 2, Resistance, etc.  And when they wanted to compare graphics, we had to compare it as a whole.  As wii owners are always saying Gameplay > Graphics, it's weird to have a conversation about graphics with them.  So in terms of gameplay, the game is substandard.  Sci-Fi shooter, done to death.  Sixteen-player online, so what?  Good Graphics, like the other thousand shooters out there.

On paper this game is nothing different than even the worst of PS360 shooters [Haze].  I mean lets be honest.

Haze has 16 player online, and pure graphical power, Haze is in the same realm as The Conduit.  Except Haze had the good thing of being multi-player co-op campaign online and offline, something The Conduit lacks.

Now I'm not comparing Haze and The Conduit, but saying if the bane of FPSs can have that, where do people think that this game stands in PS360 owners eyes'?

The problem is that every time a game gets announced for the Wii and screenshots get released, people try to take down the PS360 graphically for some odd reason, while always proclaiming "Gameplay > Graphics".  The same thing happened with SMG.  There definitely was some talk that the game could hold a candle to some PS360 games, which may or may not be true (I've learned not to get into touchy subjects, lol), but the fact that people try to compare Wii and HD games graphically, yet want to fall back onto "gameplay", is why PS360 owners are upset over all of the praise of The Conduit.  If no one tried to compare the game graphically to PS360 games, we'd be cool, but for some reason, Wii owners aren't happy with having the number one console, and all that good stuff.  They want to take away the graphics from the HD consoles.

It's a shame we can't just have a conversation on the game, and about what we expect from it for something like this to happen, as there is nothing wrong with the game, for the Wii, but compared to HD FPSs, the game is quite dated. But it should have never even been compared to the HD consoles though, then we could just focus on how good the game will be.

Hope this clears the general feelings up.

Every site that has hands on time or an in depth preview for the game has nothing but good things to say about it. That has to be worth something. I mean, unless you guys think that by looking at the game you can tell the quality of it. Maybe I should get into the visually reviewing games 9 months before they come out industry. It seems like it would be easy. Does it pay well?

It plays like hell!

You can look at that in whichever way you may prefer.

Also, well done DMJ, that's some of your best posts.

Did you actually try out the game? I'm serious. Did you get your hands on a demo of the game at E3?

Montana is really trolling this thread. Saying that the game graphics suck since they are not PS3 quality puts him into one league with Rock_on and Crazzyman.

Welcome to the nether parts of trolling Montana, well done.

While the comment how it doesn't look as good as PS3/360 games probably wasn't needed, he's not trolling because there's nothing wrong with not  liking the look/style of the game and there's nothing wrong with calling a game uninspired.

There is something wrong with claiming the game is surrounded by hypocritical fanboys, without any proof to back that up. In what ways are they supposed to be hypocritical?

And some of us are explicit in that the game is not original. It's just that the Wii isn't getting much of these games.

What do you mean, no proof? The people who can't keep their pants on when this game gets mentioned are the same people who've been downplaying FPS games this whole generation.

Let me rephrase that. It's wrong to imply that most of the people admiring it are hypocrites (hence the term "surrounded by"), with no proof. Sure there are some hypocrites, but those are just fanboys anyway.

Hey, at least they can't include me in there... I had a qualifying statement.

I can see why people don't like it, I do.

This games is one of the few shooters I want to play
. Why? Motion. As long as it looks better than CoD3 and has controls on par with MP3 or MoH:H2, I am all for it.

I own a jacked-up PC too, I own Crysis - I love showing it off to my friends.  I liked BioShock (more FPA, than FPS).  I like Battlefied 2 on LAN and TF2.

Metroid Prime (more FPA, than FPS) and. MoH:H2 because it was the only other way to feel those sweet Wii controls...Oh yeah.

Now Conduit and World at War are coming out, both look like a ton of fun with a Wiimote.

On the PC front FarCry 2 is about the only shooter I am interested in.

Sounds like alot.  But how many shooters are out there?

I play all different types of games, shooters get very little of my overall time.  They are fun once in a while.  Wii ones are my favorites.  Not because I am a Wii fanboy, but because the pointer feels right to me.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Ha ha, look at the people who completely misquoted me. You guys are funny. Real jokesters.

Then try telling us what you meant, not just claiming we misquoted you, and then mocking like a troll.
