I'll add two predictions to your post.

7) You will continue to make posts with absurd claims like "(w)hen you compare what they are delivering software wise, verses last gen, it's just like the Cube all over again."

8) The rest of us will continue to laugh at you.

But welcome to the forums!

7. Explain to me how the software Nintendo has delivered on Wii is so different than what they delivered on Cube. Both in quality on quantity it's almost exactly the same. All they've done is add in a few tech demo/edutainment productes (Wii sports, Wiifit, and now Wiimusic) to fill in the gaps a bit. They continue to produce the same thing year after year and yet everyone acts like it's new now just because it's popular. Let me tell you someting, just because everyone is buying it up doesn't make it different or new, just better marketed and cheaper than the competition.

8. laugh all you want playing Wiimusic and Animal Crossing this fall (the equivalent of Sony only announcing Singstar and Buzz as their holiday lineup, lol). I have spent years as a Nintendo fan, have owned all of their systems, and I love their AAA stuff. But Nintendo's line up this years just plain sucks. I don't care how you spin it. Have fun waiting around for software. I'm done doing that.

Quality being debatable, I won't deign to touch it (although if you honestly believe Metroid Prime 1+2 play like Corruption does, or that Sunshine and Galaxy are the same game, well.....).

Quantity, though, is an area you could not be more wrong about. It's been just over eighteen months since the Wii launched. Since then Nintendo has published roughly thirty games for they system. If you do the math, you'll realize that's about two per month. Does that sound like the Gamecube's release schedule  to you (hint: there's only one right answer, and it is not "yes.")? Even better for Nintendo fans, many of its biggest titles are amongst those thirty (Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Kart, Smash Bros., etc.). At this point, I sincerely doubt that you actually owned a Gamecube, at least during those first two years, because I can assure you the hits did not keep coming out that quickly (or have you failed to notice that Nintendo detractors are now falsely chanting that Nintendo's already run out of franchises?).

On a slightly unrelated note, calling Wii Sports and Wii Fit just "tech demos" leaves me incredulous. "It's not targeted towards me, so I'll belittle it" is a very common attitude this generation, but it doesn't make it right. Although I'll freely grant you that high sales do not mean a game is different or new. Grand Theft Auto IV is all the proof you need of that.

As for your final coment, I won't be purchasing either of those titles. Instead, I'll be spending my money on a bunch of other quality Wii games. But I appreciate your encouragment, and hope the further delays on your games aren't too numerous this year. Oh, and I suppose since you're done with Nintendo, we won't be seeing you on the Nintendo forums anymore.

Pity.

Actually Prime 1 is better than Prime 3- IMO (3 had the worse voice overs and was way too linear for a Metroid Game, but 3 is a little better than 2 IMO). And I'll agree that Galaxy is definatley more interesting than Sunshine (visually at least).  But really, the overall quality is the same (these are all AAA good games, i.e. same quality as before)- i actually own and enjoyed all of them.

As for quantity, Nintendo may have released more games on the Wii in a shorter period of time (didn't count them so) but what is it they have actually released are similar to the things they released for Cube.  Weren't Mario, Metroid, Luigi's Mansion, and Smash Bros all out by the second year? With Zelda they literally took a finished Cube game, made everyone wait an entire year so they could add waggle to it, and then tried to pass it off as a Wii game, (which is BS, the game was built for Cube and is way better on that system).  And other than that all they've done is added a few Mini 'game' titles like wiisports and Wiifit  (not even a game really, closer to a Workout video) to their library.  What games are you seeing that I'm not??

Once again I'll ask you to take a look at the library of games comming for Wii and measure it against Sony and Microsoft's offerings.  The software offered isn't even in the same league.

By the way, just because I won't have anything to play on my Wii doesn't mean I don't enjoy debating about all of the systems or the industry in general. Have a nice weekend.

Hmm, I'm not sure how to respond to your first paragraph, because I'm not certain how to read it. Are you saying that despite their being AAA games that you enjoyed, you don't like them because they're "more of the same", so to speak? That's the only reading I've got that makes the two posts fit together, but it's also contradictory, so...

Anyways, moving on. True, those games all came out within the same timeframe, but you're still missing quite a bit. I'll include Zelda, Gamecube game or not, because it's a quality title nonetheless. Mario Kart, Fire Emblem, Batallion Wars, Wario Ware, Mario Strikers, Mario Baseball, and smaller titles like Endless Ocean and Koripina. There are a few more extra games the Wii has that the Cube lacked at this point, but I think eight titles in eighteen months alone is pretty indicative of quantity when you consider that they're coming from a single publisher.

And I still don't understand your beef with the Wii ___ series. Wii Play and Wii Sports remain some of the most played titles according to Nintendo's user data, and I don't doubt that Wii Fit isn't too far behind. Again, just because it doesn't appeal to you, it doesn't mean it doesn't count. The rest of us have spoken, and while I'm sorry you don't agree, the rest of us are none too fussed.

As to the library of games, do you really want to trot out the same tired argument again? "My subjective tastes favor X, so not-X automatically sucks" just about sums up your argument there. Unfortunately for you, my honest answer to your question is that I greatly prefer the Wii's lineup to those of the HD consoles. Greatly. So it seems our arguments cancel out there. Although we can both agree that the software offered aren't in the same league...

Feel free to keep dropping by the Nintendo forums (it's not like I can stop you). As a favor to us all, though, I ask that in the future you educate yourself before making a claim, and that you not make the error of thinking that your opinion somehow stands in for anyone else's, let alone everyone else's. Enjoy your weekend!

AC and Wii Music will be Wii's main games for this holiday season. Of course Nintendo will release a few backups along the way like that Fatal Frame game or what not.

LOL good post

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

Following Nintendo's head scratching E3 conference, I'm finding it somewhat hard to believe so many people have completely written off the complete lack of virtually every announcement they were looking forward to actually being announced.

"I feel like I'm taking Crazy Pills!!!!"

They should have announced at least one title that everyone knows is in the works, even if it's not going to be released in 2008 (Kid Icarus, New Metroid, New Mario, Star Fox, F Zero, Zelda, anything). Throw the core audience a bone. They are what kept the GC alive for the most part but now Nintendo's focus has completely shifted along with their fortunes.

So now we have people looking forward to Wii Music and Animal's Crossing simply because they are both virtually guaranteed to be million sellers.

Is this REALLY what you bought a Wii for?!

"Well, we still have Mario Kart and Smash Bros. to play"

You do realize that was virtually the same thing Cammie Dunaway said in one of her (in)famous press interviews in regards to the core audience. "Just keep playing Mario Kart and Smash Bros."

It's times like these that I'm glad the Wii isn't the only console platform, because if this was any real indicator of where the console market is heading, I'd buy a pocket protector, some thick rimmed eye glass frames and become a devout PC gaming geek right on the spot.

Seem we only have to rely on 3rd party titles to satisfy our core gaming needs right now :/

Since theres no big announcement on E3 and with Gears of War 2 and Little Big Planet, MGS4 and GTA IV already released, MK Wii and Wii Fit the only game have legs what now for the Wii? Remember when Nintendo wants to beat down Halo 3 with SMG?

Or its AC the game for this holiday season or Wii Music?

Clearly sir, you are person who has yet to experience the joys of animal crossing.

The big game for the Wii these holidays. Wait for it......(pauses)............... Wii Sports Resort.
