I am suprised that they said they knew everything before hand from Sony, yet there was a number of games already listed that we knew nothing about. Nintendo on the other hand, we knew about all of their games except for a second guitar hero on ds this year (Activision is seriously milking that franchise) and that they snagged a gta. Microsoft, they were totally uninteresting until they said that ff13 was coming to their system. We had already heard rumors of the Netflix thing and for Patcher to say that 1 million people will now buy a 360 because of Netflix is ridiculous since I believe you can already stream the movies to your computer so people are going to spend ~$300 to $450 just to do something they can do already? That doesn't make sense. Everyone has their own opinions but I think they graded Sony harshly for unjust reasons and greatly over exagerated things that Nintendo and Microsoft had (seriously, they said that Shawn White Snowboarding was a big steal for Nintendo to get it to be the lead platform, wtf).

While I was watching this I was thinking to myself, "Hey, Pachter is actually making some good points."

Then he started talking about Wii 2. I'm glad N'Gai called him out on that.

Yeah, in general the WiiHD or Wii 2 argument doesn't make sense unless you're talking about a system that just increases the output resolution and/or scales the graphics to HD resolutions. The fact of the matter is there is no reason for them to replace the Wii at the moment  because it is selling 2 Million units per month, at a per unit profit in the $100 range before you account for software sales.

E3 week is over. The earth is moving on, so should we.

Who "won" E3 will change from person to person. What I will say is the reason they gave Sony low scores is highly contradictory. Showing "old" games is what MS did too... I think people are caught up in the megaton, rather than the show as a whole.

No one won E3, it was a lame show overall, sadly. The big losers are the gamers, except if you have a 360 and love Final Fantasy. Everyone else has seen no ispiration whatsoever.

This is exactly how I saw it actually. MS had the megaton, Ninty had funky hardware for next year ... but Sony primarily had games we already knew about.

E3 is definitely not what it used to be though, we all need to scale down our expectations for future shows. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the big 3 "pull out" completely, and signal the permanent death of the show.

I would prefer staggered shows (throughout the year) for the big 3 (and EA, etc..) where they can really strut their stuff. Ninty would probably just save money & do nothing though...

This one pisses me off just thinking about it. If you slit my throat right now you'd get shot in the eye with boiling blood. Any time you say something sucks around someone who disagrees, they try to validate their taste in shitty music/movies/clothing by reminding you that you still only speak for yourself, as if their opinions are in jeopardy of being monopolized by your own. To be honest, as far as new stuff goes i think Nintendo delivered the most.

MS: they demoed Avatars which we already knew about, and they announced FF 13, a game we already knew about just losing exclusivity. We knew about Gears 2, Resi 5, what else was there, the movie game?

Sony: KZ2: Knew about it. LBP?: Already shown many times. Resistance 2? Knew about it. Home? Knew about it. Only thing new was God of War 3 and MAG, both pre rendered trailers showcasing very little to nothing about the game or when there will be a release date.

Nintendo: Wii Motion plus (huge). Wii Speak (very nice). Animal Crossing, Wii Sports Resort, Wii Music, GTA for the DS.

Granted Nintendo has no stellar games, but it's still more new stuff than the other companies, and the new hardware is very good news. How can you not be excited about 1:! motion control and voice chat?
