Forums - Gaming - N'Gai Croal and Pachter: Sony the worst of the big 3 at E3?

well, this just drops my respect for Pachter (or however you spell his name) and critics in general another notch. I agree that Sony didn't really show that many new titles, but they sure as heck did a better job than M$ did. Why did they take points off for Sony and not for M$ when they both did bad in that aspect?

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

You guys can confirm this with Naz since I was chatting with him on Steam at the time, but when MS announced Netflix I told him that it was a big deal...far bigger than most gamers would give it credit for. Pachter gave the vital stats here to prove that point.

I don't believe the bolded. I will be verifying this with this "Naz" of yours, and woe unto you if I find out you're lying.

On a more serious note, I'm still skeptical that it's going to be that big of a console mover. Yeah, there are millions of Netflix owners in the U.S., but in order to take advantage of this they have to buy a 360 and get a Gold subscription. That's a lot of money for just one feature. I can see it pushing a few thousand people who are on the fence over the edge, but I don't think it's going to be a proverbial "killer app."

That said, I'm sure people who already have 360's and Netflix accounts will sign up in high numbers. If I had those two things, I probably would, as it sounds like a good deal.

There are a lot of ways it can sell consoles, I would imagine netflix will advertise this partnership a bit but kids, boyfriends, and husbands can sell the idea to their moms, girlfriends, and wives with the netflix thing as a major selling point as well.

Of course there will also be the people who pick it up exclusively for that but I don't think that will be very many people.  One of its big benefits though is that it will be a major selling point for people choosing between 360 and PS3, and there are quite a few of those people in the US right now every week.

Wow. What pointless and troll-baiting thread.

It's not like we just had half a dozen "Who won E3?" threads. Oh wait, we did. -_-

I've already addressed this.  If you don't care for the topic...don't post. I don't see why I should derail the thread any more than it already is just to explain it's legitimacy to your satisfaction. So please, stay on topic or don't post in this thread.

I LOVE THE BONUS ROUND

The main question that everyone dances around each year is how do you determine who "Won" E3?

I'm of the opinion that it comes down to a combination of the quantity, quality and impressiveness of the new announcements that are made, and a combination of the quantity, quality and impressiveness of the games (previously known ones included) that are demonstrated.

I honestly think that Microsoft had the biggest announcement of the show with Final Fantasy XIII being released for the XBox 360, Nintendo had the most announcements, and all three had things which were similarly impressive in their own ways. The games that were displayed tilts towards Microsoft, with Nintendo it is pretty hit-or-miss (depending on who you talk to), and Sony's games were impressive but we have seen almost everything that was on display before.

IMO, I thought Nintendo came in last place and Microsoft stole 1st place.

Generation 8 Predictions so far.....(as of 9/2013)

Console that will sell most: Nintendo Wii U

Who will sell more consoles between Microsoft/SONY: SONY
