i also expect 360 to put in heavy sales numbers for remainder of the year, with titles like gears 2 and fable 2. gears 2 will be the major system seller for 360 this xmas. but if was to pick a winner this year, on his occasion i would have to go with ps3

if i was to advise on a purchase this xmas, id say "sod the increased petrol prices, gas/electric, council tax - just buy a ps360"

2008 is a great year for gaming, and will be even greater for me since my tax code has been lowered

i need to replace my 360 i reckon skee... what do you think? Elite or 60 gig?

 

60 gig would be better value, unless you need 120 gig and a black finish

but even better vaule would be a 80 gig ps3 at £299 but you have one now:)

Still, I dont think they would mind if they were doing a bit better. They probably expected to be where the Wii is right now to be honest.

Gotta love the PS3 hate. Since the readjustment to the PS3 pricing and SKU's, I'd say they should be happy. The turnaround WW, and even in America now is amazing.

They went from doom and gloom to steadily chopping away Microsoft's lead at a higher price point, and quickly approaching being the dominant HD console.
At this point Sony can't touch Nintendo. I think they know that, as does everyone else.

So as far as attainable goals go, regaining the thrown over mainstream gamers is the most they can hope to get, and thats happening as we speak WW. They should be satisfied.

Spending enough time on this website leads me to believe that there are plenty of people that think the PS3 is still going to outsell the Wii.

 I used to be one of them. Theres no reason for the Wii to still be selling like it is in terms of gameplay. But it is. With Sony's biggest vulnerability being its price and cost of production, and Nintendo's biggest advantage ATM being that it sells for the cheapest and is already making money, Sony will never be able to match Nintendo's price, even if by some miracle of marketing and game development it meets its demand.

To compound that, Nintendo is selling first-party software and accesory by the boatload. They can afford to drop the price to near PS2 levels at this point and still be making money. It just won't happen this generation, even though I still believe Sony ahs the best product and value. Nintendo= absolutely untouchable.
