this is incredible.....

Man I was thinking about Pilotwings during the Ninty press conference. A remake or brand new title would be great especially with the WiiMote etc etc. Another great idea would have been to unveil it as the premier game using 1:1. Now thats something to get excited about.

It was one of the first games to use mode7 graphics. It was basically a forerunner for all 3D games today.

Before the SNES Star Fox?

Star Fox used Super FX, Mode7 was what is featured in games Like Mario Kart, Castlevania and Super Ghouls and Ghost's. But I think it was before StarFox, but was a totally different type of game.

Yeah, it was before Star Fox.  Pilotwings actually came out in 1990 IIRC.

Edit:  D'oh wrong year.  It was 1991. -_-

Clearly they got it in the cards, but whether its getting released who knows

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

How did you double post 22 minutes later?

I dunno, i'd rather play star fox

Pilotwings was truly innovative. So different, bit slower than usual, extremely difficult and rewarding
