Forums - Microsoft - NetFlix on MS......Weird?

Did anyone else found it a bit strange that NetFlix Sited with MS? The reason i say it is because NetFilx contributed A LOT to BR victory over HD DVD..... If MS went out and bought FFXIII and also got NetFlix that there is A LOT of money spent dont you think?

Really I'm getting tired of the assumptions that Microsoft buys everything.

Doesn't it occur to anyone that the 360 is the leading console+entertainment sytem in the most important market: the US? And that it therfore is a ver valuable partner?
Square even said it was THEIR decision to bring FF13 to 360 as well, not very strange considering 360's userbase in the US.
For Netflix this partnership opens a whole lot of opportunities.

What Bengabenga said.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Lol well in this case the assumption that they bought it makes the most sence.....NetFlix was supporting Sony when they were doing bad...why would they switch now?

I think Netflix would love to provide this "service" to Sony. I don't think Sony sees much value in this service. It does seem a little odd that MS is still offering their own video service.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

You're overlooking a few points:

1. Netflix may have supported Blu-ray but because MS didn't have a huge financial stake in HD-DVD in the first place, that's largely irrelevent.

2. Netflix is a business. A business that wants to make money.

3. The optical format pissing contest is over and it's time to move on.

4. Rumors about this have been swirling since HD-DVD was alive and going strong. That shows you how separate these two issues really are. Partnerships like this don't spring up overnight; you can bet the two companies have been talking for a long, long time about this.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

Netflix want their Watch Now service to be on every device possible. I doubt Microsoft paid them anything to do this.

If Sony wanted to partner with Netflix, Netflix would jump at the chance. Sony wants you to rent movies from them, not Netflix. IMO the Blu-ray victory is what prompted the MS/Netflix deal. It helps negate the huge advantage Blu-Ray is for people that want console that doubles as home media center.

Wasn't Netflix supposed to be coming to the PS3 too.

To me i would figgure if Sony does offer this..it will be a better value then MS Since PSN is free...i dont see how thats not good value...this to me was actually a really big announsement from MS along with FFXIII

Why?  Nobody will care if you won w/ brute force rather than carefully planned moves after the fact.
