Maybe people don't notice or mind Sony announcing dates and then delay and delay and delay.
I personally prefer games to be announced and then released within 6 months. Any longer and the hype will just die. Often times, just doesn't care anymore.

Pikmin and animal crossing was all I needed. Thank god they didn't announce plans for another starfox game, that's just what we need.
However, I am dissapointed at the year on year lack of support for Pilotwings.

Usually, those games are spread throughout an entire generation. We got them all in a very short period of time. A large gap until the following titles release is to be expected. It still sucks that we didn't see anything about Kid Icarus, though. I really really REALLY want a Kid Icarus game. |
Indeed. Galaxy, Prime 3, Twilight Princess, Brawl, Kart, Emblem... it's been a heckuva time to be a Nintendo gamer. And now that those have been released and time has gone... we're faced with an interesting prediciment. The only "big" 1st party release this year is Animal Crossing, and other than that, we have Wario Land and Mario Super Sluggers. That's it this year (that has been annoucned).
Still, there are a lot of games that I want, most of them 3rd party (le gasp!), the others are titles that I didn't have the chance to pick up when they came out some time ago. So the games are there, no doubt about it.
We'll see what the future holds.
Never in Nintendo's history have Smash, Kart, Mario, Zelda, and Metroid been released in such a short time. It's no wonder it takes them a little while to catch up.... and that's fine with me. They don't need to waste dev time making CGI trailers. They just need to get me the games as fast as they can.
I hate to be "that guy" but if you don't have enough to play you need more consoles... or at least a DS. Of Sony's major games at their E3 only 2 are coming out this year. LBP and Resistance 2, and neither were announced at E3. The same goes for Microsoft with Fable 2 and Gears of War 2. No one makes games instantly.
And if you say "I can't afford more consoles" well tough. That's life buddy. The people with more money have more options for ways to fill their leisure time. That doesn't make it okay to make unreasonable demands out of the one console you've got.

Hmmm PS3 ownership is setting in it seems.
E3 was a major letdown from all side. what Nintendo did is making sure to tell their fan that they have shifted their focus on the casuals, yes they will stil do some games for the hard core, but we are more intrested on our casual fans.

The worst part of Wii music is he was developing it for years. I gotta think what he wanted to do and what the software and hardware would let him do wouldn't match. He wanted a free roaming make your own music game... and instead ended up with what he has. |
I just think he's taking this motto of "everyone playing" a bit too far. To have a game which requires no skill whatsoever outside of the ability to mimic a motion action and randomly press buttons is just going too far. Not only that, but the demonstration with the six executives playing sounded like crap, so even the software can't pick up the button presses to make decent sounding music. I think this is just a small funk Miyamoto is in and he'll soon be back in top form. I hope he doesn't just try to recreate Wii Sports' success every year with another Wii branded game.

1996...give or take a decade.
LOL
Sorry for the all-caps LOL here, but all of you guys are hilarious. Why? Because all of you guys, without you realizing it, have set yourself up for a major letdown with all of the hype from E3.
First of all, Ninty did NOT let you "hardcore" fans down. Not at the least bit. I know, I know. They did not announce any of those "hardcore" games in their conference like Madworld, The Conduit, Fatal Frame 4, etc. etc.
Boo-F***ing-hoo
I'm so sorry that Nintendo has hurt your feelings, but really, grow up and think. This isn't your old E3 anymore. This is now a BUSINESS SUMMIT, not a GAME'S CONVENTION. This is not about the gamers anymore, but for the media. That is one thing that is changed recently in this day in age. And if the news now goes to the mainstream media, what do you think they will get more excited about? Wii Sports Resort, with easy access controls for many fun sports designed for everybody, or Madworld, the game that makes dismemberment, blood and gore look fun? The obvious answer is Wii Sports. If they were to do what Sony did and just focus on the core games, the rest of those casual games would be forgotten, all the casuals would think Nintendo has lost them and that now videogames is no more for them but for the "hardcore" gamers instead. Instead, they focused on the casual games for the mainstreams and the rest of the world is happy.....except you.
"Oh, but what about us, the gamers would sacrificed blood, sweat and tears and pulled Nintendo out of its problems for all those years??"
Did Ninty say that there will be no more hardcore games for you? Nintendo released Super Mario Galaxy, Legend of Zelda, Metroid Prime 3, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, Battalion Wars, Fire Emblem etc. etc. and you all have the gall to forget all of that and just start whining for more games?
Nintendo released the most first-party games in their library in all of their history in the first 18 months of its cycle and yet here you are complaining that they haven't talked about more games?!?
Have any of you thought that maybe.....maybe....their is a strategy behind it? That maybe....just maybe....they want the Wii to be like the DS, the most successful system Nintendo released and will soon be (according to the stats and if it continues to sell the way it is) the most successful system ever???
What did they do on the DS? Well, they first released the system with all of their own first-party options. Then they slowly start putting in less and less of their own offerings while third-party companies put in more and more of their games in instead. What is the result? While the DS have excellent Ninty games like New Super Mario Bros., Phantom Hourglass and Animal Crossing, they also have Phoenix Wright games, Castlevania games, and some of the best fRPG's a single system can have, including Dragon Quest IX.
Maybe now Nintendo is starting to release their influence on the system and are allowing the third-party companies influence. Sure, there will be crap on it just like the DS. But there will also be gems as well like Madworld and the Conduit and a whole lot more. After all of that crap about how you guys wanted "good third-party games" on the Wii, after your disappointment about Ninty's conference, you all forgot about the good third-party games?
And don't tell me how some of you were just disappointed about how Ninty didn't talk about it. Instead of paying attention to their conference, maybe you should have paid attention to the third-party conferences and realize that Nintendo just wanted them to talk about their own games. Cuz now Nintendo is not going to overshadow Capcom and Sega and all of their offerings with their own offerings, but instead let them shine on E3 on their own.
So, the summary? Instead of whining about no Nintendo games that you like announced at their conference, realize that {a} This E3 is not about appeasing to gamers anymore, but to the mainstream media, {b} Nintendo needs to advertise about the casual games or they will be forgotten quickly by all the "shiny graphics" games, {c} Nintendo is prolly following the method of announcing games that are ready (the plan everyone like naznatips just mentioned), {d} that Ninty is making the Wii the next DS and are just letting the third-party companies have more influence while stepping back and {e} they are following {d} by letting them do their own announcing and see for themselves that they will be responsible for their own success and failures.
(sorry for the long rant)
