Forums - Nintendo - At TGS, do you expect Nintendo to focus on core games, unlike E3?

i see no reason to develop more core games on wii, simply because majority of them wont sell, no more heroes for example.

they will stick at casual games because thats where they are making more money than anyone else. id be heavily suprised if wii shifted to core games. imo it wouldnt make business sence. and that they will mainly stick to casual style games

No More Heroes sold so well in America the developer threw a party over it. It is the best selling Suda game ever. This includes games like Killer 7 that were released on the PS2. Try doing a bit of basic fact checking before using absolutey horrible example to prove you incorrect assumptions.

Zelda was never all that complicated when it came to gameplay.  My point was more along the line that even when they upgraded to the N64, the controls were kept simple and streamlined so anyone could do it.  The only Zeldas I don't have are the last three major adventures because, let's face it, the series has needed an overhaul for a long damn time.  I'm not at all worried about the shake-up they'll no doubt give the next Zelda game.  I just hope they do enough to drop Gannondorf/Ganon for a while to make the story as original as the gameplay will no doubt be.

I'm so sick of that guy.

Ridley too.  I'm goddamn sick of seeing Ridley show up in every single Metroid game.  How many fucking times can one guy die?!  No, this isn't funny anymore!  No more Ridley!  No more Metroid stories cluttered between Metroid I and Metroid II!

It's not a matter of keeping the controls simple.  They're not going to get that complicated; in fact, it's likely they'd only get more complicated if Nintendo decided to deviate from Zelda controls as they defined them back in OoT.

As for shaking up the series.  I want to play as Zelda/Shiek.  'nuff said.

And I like Ridley too.  I'm still waiting for the day he and Samus team up and she gets to ride him Panzer Dragoon style.

Samus already got to fly Tran-Ridley Airlines in Metroid Prime 3.  Which, for as tired as I am of that guy, was one helluva cool boss battle.

Want to play as Zelda, huh...?  Careful what you wish for!

You don't know Nintendo if you think they attends to TGS

Are you kidding me? I think the lowest selling "Core" nintendo game on the wii is Battalion Wars 2 with sales of 160k. The highest is SMG with 6.79M(More than any ps3 game I beleive.) No more heroes sold many times the last grasshopper game(which was on the ps2 and gamcube). How about you reasearch your facts before making fallacious statements.

Here are just a few sales of nintendo Core games.

Fire Emblem X: Radiant Dawn Nintendo 9,429 7.77 0.52m
Super Paper Mario Nintendo 15,810 7.79 2.40m
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Nintendo 40,031 8.26 4.92m
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Nintendo 55,759 8.09 1.43m
Mario Kart Wii Nintendo 62,233 7.78 6.25m
Super Mario Galaxy Nintendo 144,218 8.12 6.79m
Super Smash Bros Brawl Nintendo 112,690

8.03

6.21m

Fine, you want to call it a D grade ...

Name 1 console that has released more of its top games within 18 months of its initial release?

Basically, you're saying that Nintendo sucks because the Wii has only outperformed (pretty much) every other console in history with only first party development.

I don't want to get in the middle of the larger argument you and Words are having. I just wanted to answer the question. Your answer is Sega Dreamcast.

Unless you expect the Wii to die within a year, it's not realy a valid comparison. The DC saw most of its best ames released in the first 18 months because it didn't live much longer than 18 months.

November 1998-March 2001=28 months first off. Second it's valid because SEGA continuously created games like clockwork for the Dreamcast. There were no droughts, dry periods, wondering whether games were coming. A steady stream of games from first party could always be found, and better than any other console. I counted on gamerakings over 55 games Sega published for the Dreamcast in it's 28 months of life and that only got me into the 60th percentile.

The Wii's catering to there core audience which are the casuals, like how sony cater to the core gamers, and microsoft is currently having an identity crisis and i dont think alot is going to change.

That is incorrect the wii targets alot of demographics. These  are Nongamers, Core gamers,  Casual Gamers and some hardcore gamers. The 360 and ps3 target hardcore gamers and some core gamers. Oh and there IS a difference between core and hardcore gamers.
