Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo had no reason to show off major 1st party titles.

I like Bacon said:

When the hell did Miyamoto say that he did not want another F-Zero game to be made? and most importantly, why would he say such a thing?

Too lazy to find it. But theres an interview with him on IGN or somewhere where he said that F-Zero on gamecube was something he didnt like or a franchise that he thinks is dead or shouldnt come back. Something like that. just look it up its the same thing he says more or less.

@steven787
lol true about sales wise. Wii Music is gonna be HUGE!

In that case, people aren't complaing because they haven't announced a new mario or zelda. They are complaining because they barely announced anything for the Core gamers at all. I do agree though. Nintendo did fine. They coudl announce there games whenever they want, and show them whenever they want. If they choose to not compete with 3rd parties so the wii gets more support, then they could do so. There are plenty of games coming to the wii, and people should just stop bashing nintendo for choosing their own path and not announcing games.

I agree with your point, but I disagree that they have released all of them. They released about a quarter of them. Not to mention TP was a port, which means we have yet to get the real wii zelda. . They did release some of the biggest ones though.

I know thats why I meant by being made for the Wii ground up.

They released all the ones that are still alive. People need to give up an Punch out and Earthbound. Nintendo has explictly said they are not making any more Earthbound games. At least anyone who thinks theyre making one this gen are in for a disappointment.

Actually they have yet to release F-Zero, Wave Race Starfox, Donkey Kong(Announced), Kirby(ANnounced Kinda), Pikmin 3(Announced), and a Wii specific Zelda. Not to mention many franchises that have made their appearance on the DS may make their it on the WII also. OH and there are tons of smaller ones too. Kid Icarus is very likely. I do agree with the OP though.

"What im trying to say is Nintendo delivired all the core titles you wanted. Now shut up and wait for the next ones which will be completly built for the ground up for Wii." from my OP statement.

Wait for your Wave Race and Starfox.

I listed those games.

No you didn't. You did not say anything about Star Fox until I mentioned it. Or anything about Wavewace until sc94597 mentioned it. :-p

Honestly, so many games get announced and shown off at E3 that first parties and big publishers are better off not announcing big games at the show.

These companies are guaranteed to get press no matter what, why would they want to have all that competition and end-up on some E3 update list? They can show off the game on some random day and get front page of every website and be the talk of the forums.

Agree?

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

They haven't released or announced the ones I'm interested in. I want Punch-Out!!, 1080 Snowboarding, F-Zero, Wave Race, Diddy Kong Racing, 2D platformers like Donkey Kong. And where are the new IPs? Their Wii series is a great idea and has brought loads of people into gaming, but I want old style games too. The 2D Wario platformer looks good but it sounds like it's going to make you use motion controls and I'd much prefer to use a Gamecube pad for that type of game.

The only 1st party games I've got this gen are Wii Sports, Wii Play, Warioware and Mario Kart. Zelda, Mario and Metroid are great games but they're not must-buys for me personally. I prefer 2D to 3D when it comes to platform and adventure games so 3D stuff is rarely top of my list. Mario Kart and Brawl are the only ones I'm really pleased about as racing and fighting are my favourite genres.

Last i heard Diddy Kong is owned by Rare, they allow the use of it on the DS but i doubt he will appear on the wii.

Nintendo did debut their biggest titles. WSResort, Wii Music, and AC are going to sell more than any other game that comes out this holiday season.

I don't think wii resort is coming out this year, i read 2009 is when it will hit stores.

You are missing one other important point as well:

Last Xmas, Ninty completely sold out of stock - in a really bad way.

This Xmas, they will STILL sell out of stock (both DS & Wii) - without any more announced or released titles from Ninty. There is heaps out there, heaps of 3rd-party coming, and still a few Ninty titles coming out.

...

It makes a LOT more sense for them to hold back their first party "wildcard" titles until they are truly needed (or Ninty just want to cash in even more).

So even if there weren't any other 1st-party titles in dev (or coming out) - it really wouldn't matter... this year anyway.

Next year is looking like the year of the *really* nasty battleground: probably get a slim 360, new Halo, GT5, Mass Effect II, Bioshock II, Starcraft II, God of War, FFXIII (maybe), RE5, ....

Ninty will need a few eye catching AAA titles to compete (a new Zelda + Mario wouldn't hurt...).

...

Being in 1st-place affords Ninty some privileges, and this is one of them.

Griffin, whateva' :). The other two still hold true.

Shams: Also correct.

@griffin: Diddy Kong at least is in Mario Kart Wii. Don't know about who owns the rights for him.
