Miyamoto: "We're Making Pikmin"

At tonight's E3 2008 Nintendo Developer Roundtable, Shigeru Miyamoto quickly and casually confirmed that a new Pikmin title is under development. His words? "We're making Pikmin." The long version of that answer, when asked if the team was planning on revisiting that particular franchise was far more verbose.

"We continue investigating all types of games," Miyamoto said. "When it's time to announce such a title, I'll announce it." Then he did. "We're making Pikmin."

Again, that's "We're making Pikmin."

I knew nintendo wouldn't dissapoint us too much. I loved pikmin I & II and can't wait to see some of 3.

Pikmin, Zelda and Wario are my favourite Nintendo franchises. Two announced, one to go.

Ohh, I thought they didn't announce anything with all the monumental whining and complaing over at gaf. Pikmin is great fun.

This has been my most anticipated Wii game other than Smash and Galaxy. Seeing as I thought galaxy was good but not fantastic (the way many view sunshine) I am looking forward to pikmin 3 more than SMG2 and Zelda Wii combined!
When is this coming out? I am guessing summer/fall 09.

Seriously, if they announce Pikmin 3 at E3, I wonder what they will announce at places that aren't mainstream focused like TGS. (: By announcing this I hope it releases this year, since that is their new stance. Anyway just another game to the lineup of great games this second half of the year on the wii.

I have never played Pikmin. How is this franchise? How does it play?

I doubt it. Nintendo would have never announced it then. They would have just said deal with it when asked about core games. The latest I see it coming is Q1 or maybe early Q2 next year.
