Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony Chairman: "We're making a comeback already"

Sales of the PS3 have been dropping each month and Stringer says they're making a comeback?

Sony Chairman Howard Stringer has told investors at the annual shareholders meeting that the company is on the road to recovery and that the PlayStation 3 is vital for a successful future.

Stringer assured the audience of over 7,000 shareholders that PlayStation 3 manufacturing problems were now behind the group, and the console is a "key driver" for future growth, according an Associated Press report.

lol, and i was just mentioning in another thread that sony should shut up for just a bit longer. looks like it isn't happening.

If each one of those shareholders bought a PS3 this week they could practically double weekly Japanese sales.

Have you ever watched a coach of any sporting team after they have lost the first 10% to 20% of games for the season? Usually they make promises about how their problems are already behind them ...

On a very rare occasion these teams make it to the first round of playoffs before they're eliminated ...

Leave it up to legend to post something like this...He was talking about all the behind the scenes stuff they are doing to make a profit off the ps3...
you know what legend all you do is post anti.. sony threads.... if you dont like the system so much why do you seem to be so concerned about it...all the time

Another case of The Sony Reality

It's nice to know that Stringer practices what he preaches :)

"Dear Shareholders - Truely, THIS is Living"

"..just keep on trying 'till you run out of cake"

Given that there is more stock out there than systems that have been sold they probably don't need to make anymore for another 6 months or so. No wonder their manufacturing problems are behind them.

Wasn't he talking about the company as a whole, Legend? The entirety of Sony was fairing poorly a few years ago, largely due to the sudden collapse of their Walkman market. Is he just referring to the Video Game market, or does he ean they've coming back as a company in its entirety?

I believe he means in entirety. They have forecast raising profits to 320 billion yen (2.7 billion USD) for fiscal year 2007, which is more than doubling the 126 billion yen (about 1 billion USD) they made fiscal year 2006.

If this is true, that means losses for the PS3 will have been split in more than half. They lost 2 billion USD on the PS3 alone in fiscal year 2006.

Hmmm, I'm not exactly sure why this is news. 320 billion yen is exactly the same number printed on page 10 of their yearly fiscal report released released months ago.
