Forums - Nintendo - Animal Crossing City Folks...?!

Hmmm, is it just me... Or does this game look like it's a 'not-so-AAA' game with a low-budget?!...

It looks like a combination of the GC-versions' graphics and the style of the DS version.

And lets be honest... The GC Animal Crossing was an upgraded N64 Animal Crossing, and that is a fact! The game was released on the N64 in Japan and 2-3 years later in Europe for the GC.

I know the Wii is supposed to be 'not about the graphics' but this is really painful. You can see the low-res textures on the ground even in Animal Crossing Wii... The draw distance is awfull and in the item-menu the item you wish to select looks like it exist out of 20 pixels. Not trying to be rude here but this is WAY below what the Wii can handle, as it has already proven in several games!

I'm really disappointed in Nintendo right now... Wii Sports Resort, Wii Music and Animal Crossing Wii... Which is essentially a combination of the GC and DS version with a town in it that you can visit!

If they have nothing else for this year then it's gonna be a rough holiday for the more hardcore Wii owner I think!... Obviously, Wii will still sell out! But this is going to be painful for their fanclub that kept them going back in 2002-2005.

What I want to say is! I'm really disappointed in Nintendo's E3 show, their 08-lineup thusfar! And especially the seeming effort that has thus far been put in Animal Crossing for Wii! It seriously looks like a N64 game with a little polish to it! Sort of like an overclocked N64 game if that would be possible!

I agree. But I however disagree about how much you're knocking Animal Crossing. Now, personally, I don't like Animal Crossing at all, but I think it seems like they've put quite a bit of effort in it, just not on the graphics.

Still disappointed in Nintendo right now, though.

The AC games have always and will always have that 'simple' look. It's symbollic of the 'simplicity' of the game, and the very laid-back feel.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

Were the GC and DS iterations good?

Has the Animal Crossing series ever been about graphics?

Will it be be a poor game and thus, sell poorly?

Answer those however you see fit, meanwhile, I'll be teaming up with my friends online, talking to them, and going into people's towns to put pitfalls everywhere and cut down their trees. ^_^

LoL, the simple look was becasue the systems could not handle better looking games, now Nintendo has just become lazy.  They can make the game look 100x better and still keep the really cute look and feel of the game, just look at Banjo, Ratchet and clank, viva Pinata, SMG or Little big planet.  They all have the cute feeling and they all look really nice.

I would definitely not call the new Banjo game cute. It just looks weird and creepy. The others I'll give you, though.

I know people can say that the graphics don't matter on Wii... But seriously... This is close to N64 graphics (yes, the GC Animal Crossing was a straight port from the N64 version that was only released in Japan).

They could at least put a little effort in it and polish up the look and detail of the series!... Look how much detail is in Viva Piñata on X360... That's a game that is comparable to Animal Crossing. I'm not saying Nintendo should go as far as what Rare did with Viva Piñata... Just a LITTLE polish and effort would be nice!...

uhm...both the DS and GC version could have looked way better..and I actually think the Wii version looks great

it's the graphics style wich gives it that feel..it would SUCK with 'better' graphics....same thing for Fire Emblem

I LOVED the 2D gba sprites...they felt alive...nice artstyle...now that it's 3D...I want my 2D back...

anyone who does not get that..is a gfxwhore...nothing against you...but don't talk about games as if you'd know more..because you honestly don't...you just love eyecandy.. lol...

ofcourse it was a port...just like wii sports had 64 graphics..right?...are you blind?..need glasses?...go get a 64 and playa  few games..THEN come back to tell me that..HAHA

you honestly don't know how much we've progressed....

No one cares about the graphics. It's one game, a game in a franchise that has always looked like this. Don't play the game or get over it. I certainly have no interest in it.
