Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's E3 Was Awesome, It's A Great Time To Be A Wii Gamer

Opinion Warning.

I don't understand the uproar about this E3 in terms of Nintendo. We have confirmation of Super Mario Galaxy 2, and a new Zelda on its way- just because we suspected as much before doesn't lessen my excitement. I already have 12 Wii games, but by this time next year I can boast of Guitar Hero 4, The Conduit, Wii Music, Wii Sports 2, Fifa 09, Shaun White, Animal Crossing and maybe Dead Rising. And those are just the titles which interest me.

Nintendo stated that they released a lot of Hardcore franchises early (SMG, Zelda:TP, SSBB, Mario Kart, MP3..) a to quell the HC worries that the console would be only casual. It is quality over quantity for me, and if the new iterations of hardcore franchises such as SMG2, Zelda Wii and Kid Icarus aren't ready to show, then i'd rather wait and see (and play) something which impresses me.

Besides, the lack of hardcore announcements for the moment from Nintendo perhaps gives third parties some room to take stage - evident in Nintendo's showing of Call Of Duty 5. And maybe titles like The Conduit, which are quality, won't be overshadowed by massive hardcore titles from Nintendo within the next year. Third or first party, there is hardly a lack of quality releases around as we stand, with tonnes more coming - even if they are amid a sea of shovelware.

Most of the anger is about their official press conference. A lot of what you mentioned was in an interview published afterward.

it was that they didnt excite as with their official cinference just casual stuff

N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!

bet with *no one yet* that the combined first week of Monster Hunter 3 in america and europe will be 600k or more! winner changes looser sig and avatar for two months!

I totally loved this year's Nintendo conference!... And that's quite an understatement! Broadening the market... Blaargh! I think I have to puke!

THE NETHERLANDS

Maybe Nintendo just played a different game with its presser.
Since much of the press is not exactly pro-Wii, it did a state of Nintendo address, then gave interviews addressing everything that was not mentioned.
They get a lot more news that way.

The confirmation of a new Zelda and Mario was in the conference- it was just very subtle, and very easy to miss. It lasted all of five seconds, and Reggie said it- "the teams are working once again" which is Ninty code for "they're making sequels but they arent ready to show off yet"

yeah, i totally agree with you Wiped
i think they're giving 3rd parties the last half of the year

and hey, you know the Wii will still outsell everything on the
market whether or not they have a "1st-party BIG NAME" for
the holidays...

I mean, i'm sure nintendo aint that dumb to have just Animal
Crossings for the holidays, which leads me to believe there is
a rather big third party game that will carry the software side
of the Wii through x-mas :)

at least, i hope.... haha

No, it means those teams are making games--nothing more, nothing less.

Infering that direct sequels are coming especially considering Nintendo's "one main Mario game per generation" approach is foolish.

Except that "the Zelda team only works on Zelda games" according to Miyamoto, and I'm thinking the same is true for the Mario Team. Besides, we've seen more than one Mario game per generation already: two on the SNES and two on the NES. They're coming.

They should have shown CGI trailers for games that won't come out for three years. That would have made some people happy.
