Forums - Gaming - Ahh, so how here is about to be a hypocrite?

Well, the 360 has a great new feature coming. Full game installs, so they no longer need the disk to spin, and load times are faster.

I am curious, of all the people who that have complained for a very long time about developers taking advantage of a guaranteed HD in the PS3, how many of you will use this feature?

I will use it, as I think it's great! I assume people like SC, Rocket Pig, and others will avoid it like the plague, as they have stated how poor of a console decision it is to have installs.

Your thoughts?

EDIT: Damn I wish I could edit titles.

It should read "who here", not "how here"

The difference between Sony's installs vs. MS'es installs is one is mandatory, the other is optional.

Yes, I agree that there will most likely be hypocracy on the X360 side (myself included), but I think mandatory installations aren't the greatest. Personally, I will not use the install feature except for a very choice few games.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Uhhhhhhh..... what?

I think it's high time they've allowed this. I really hope this means developers can make games that assume an HDD, because Microsoft's schizo policy on hard drives has been pretty ridiculous. I don't see why either installations or disc swapping is a big deal, we've been doing both for ages.

ooooooooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk..............

I can't be hypocritical, because I have a 20GB HDD.

However as MrStickball said, the main issue most have had with installs is their mandatory nature.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Since it's not mandatory, no problem. Off the top of my head I can't think of any title I'd use this for. Maybe GTA4 as I like to jump right into the game and play for a half hour, but hate the initial load screen.

completely different... or cant you see that? one is a requirement, one is an optional thing to make things nicer.

I see the difference. I just mean the only reason you would install, is to take advantage of all the reasons PS3 games do it. So what your saying is bravo to MS for making it an option (and I agree).

What I am saying, is everyone who has ever bitched about installs, should never exercise there right to use it, or they are a hypocrite (as the only reason they would, would be to take advantages the PS3 games offer, that they disagree with)

so with these installs you wont need the game, that is very diff with the sony machine because you still need the game in the console after you install, i really do think that i have misread your post because wouldn't people just get the game install it then send it back to the shop.

so have i got this correct,
Microsoft
buy game, install it to console dont need the disk anymore

Sony
buy game, install to console, still need disk in the system

That just made me realize something, Noslodecooy: Rockstar said MS would only get GTAV if they came up with a bigger storage solution. Well, there ya go!

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
