Forums - Microsoft - Now Microsoft has won E3, will they get a Sony-like boost?

Two important points about the FFXIII anouncement.

A. Microsoft WILL dominate the RPG genre, so anyone with at least one eye on RPGs/JRPGs will seriously consider making their first or second console an Xbox360.

B. One of the main criticisms with the Xbox360 is that many of the games are on the PC and because many PC fans buy consoles only for games like JRPGs/and other genres not supported well by the PC it makes it a very viable 2nd platform ahead of the PS3 if you are considering JRPG support.

Shooters do not pull in these people as easily, and it will be interesting to see the reaction in Europe where theres both a high PC gamer penetration and less cultural emphasis on the shooter genre.

If I had to sell one of my consoles now, I would push the PS3 out the door before the Xbox360 even though im a HUGE pc fan with a fast computer because of the JRPG dominance.

I don't know about that one. In Japan where they matter most, people still haven't chosen the 360 over the ps3. i think like the Japanese. I'm one of the greatest JRPG fans you'll find on vgchartz but I'm not getting a 360.

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

Lol@this thread.

Starcraft, you never cease to amaze me. The PS3's boost had NOTHING to do with E3 and it's clearly not even agreeable that Microsoft even won this E3.

They'll still be comfortably in last for a long time (except maybe the week of the pro clearance price, but even then I doubt it)

I think you are right, the winner will get a boost.

Expect the Sony lead to expand a bit.

OH I see what you did there

Well, not everyone agrees that M$ won E3, I don't see why M$ got so much credit for showing off loads of 3rd party games? Gears and Banjo looked good, though Fable was a slightly dull show which did not really show anything new.

Are you joking?  $ony showed tons of 3rd party games, as well.  They're also a bit disingenuous about exclusivity.  At the end of their press conference, Jack Tretton claimed 10 exlusive P$3 Blu-ray games this year (extending into 2009, which is fair enough, since how else do you mention games coming out before the next E3?)  But during the montage that immediately followed that statement, I counted 9 exclusives (including NBA Inside 09, Buzz and Singstar Vol 2) and 7 multi-platform games.  WTF?

Now, you may argue that $ony's line-up is better, but you can't honestly claim they weren't touting loads of 3rd party games.

As in M$ focused on them, and had the developers come on stage to show them off, whereas Sony just showed them in montages

microsoft didnt win E3

and i dont think they will have a shift forward.

playstation 3 is now king of shooters, and sales will keep up over that of 360 even with a higher price point.

ff13 360 port wont hurt ff13 ps3 sales. by the time ff13 is released there will be many other ps3 rpg`s on the horizon

ps. can someone explain because its baffling me, on how 360 isnt shifting more consoles than ps3 even with a lower rpice point, supposdly better onine and games?

Dude no one takes you seriously, MS could roll out 40 new exclusive games and you would still say MS lost. IDK what you have against MS but you really are giving yourself a bad rep. PS3 = king of shooters?! Lawl because of one CG trailer and 256 playing thats make them the king of shooters? People like you have always called the 360 the "shooterbox" and so I guess not huh? Im saying this as a big Sony fan.

PS: When Huxley came out a lot of people rolled their eyes b/c the 360 was getting another shooter. I rolled my eyes when SOny announced MAG yesterday as I don't want to play another generic shooter however big it is. Huxley is at least different. Man tho could I go for 256 on R2 lol that would be awesome.

so you agree ps3 has more upcoming shooters then?

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

I do not think they are last until total sales indicate otherwise.  At the current rate, PS3 has a while to go.

It's not my fault if you can't differentiate between LTD sales and weekly sales.

From an RPG fans perspective as of right now Microsoft won E3. (That could change though) Yes the 360 will get a boost.... temporary.

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.

Regardless of what some people say about Sony showing some of their favourite series, the fact remains only two things happened at E3 that we didn't already have a good idea would come to pass.  Sony announced a Socom 256 player shooter that is a LONG way away.  Microsoft got FFXIII.

I lol'd so hard at this.

The socom shooter is a LONG way away? and you just convienently forget to mention that FF13 is well over 2 years away? We'll be lucky to see it in late 2010.

Stop kidding yourself.

ps. can someone explain because its baffling me, on how 360 isnt shifting more consoles than ps3 even with a lower rpice point, supposdly better onine and games? So why isn't the PS3 outselling the Xbox360 significantly  inspite of having blu ray worth $400 and free online?

such spin! you have no way to counteract him saying "the 360 is getting outsold" so you try and damage control it by saying "why isn't it being outsell by more?" Being outsold is being outsold, and that's all that matters. Take it one step further, being outsold = people want the other product more than yours, no ifs ands or buts about it

You can price a full sized GM car at a little higher than a Toyota Yaris Mini and if it only outsells it by a little and you're losing money from selling it at that price what have you gained exactly?
