Forums - Nintendo - E3 2008: Has Bungie Found A New Home? We have a few guesses and some evidence to back them up.

July 15, 2008 - The megaton announcement that Bungie split from Microsoft rocked the Xbox community to its core. At this year's E3 there have been a lot of rumors flying around about which publisher has inked a deal with the mega-developer to bring its next game to the masses. Two of these potential publishers unsurprisingly include Activision and Electronic Arts and we have evidence that either could be the resting place for the house that made our beloved Master Chief.

During the EA Press Conference on Monday several Bungie employees were seen in attendance wearing Bungie t-shirts, yet there was no announcement made. First, why are Bungie employees interested in what Electronic Arts has to say unless they have some sort of vested interest in the company? Second, why would they wear clothing emblazoned with Bungie's logo if not to hint at some sort of relationship with the publishing conglomerate?

But just as soon as we were ready to label Bungie as being the next great developer to be gobbled up by the gigantic corporation, we noticed something on Bungie's website that hinted at an announcement at 7:07 a.m. PST tomorrow, Wednesday July 16. With the recent development that the Activision/Vivendi merger had been approved -- and the fact that the announcement was finalized exactly one week before the supposed mystery reveal from Bungie -- we wouldn't be surprised if Activision had added another talented developer to its stable. Think about it, on the seventh day of Activison/Vivendi becoming a reality, at 7:07 a.m. Bungie announces their first project under their new label. Sounds like something the seven-centric developer might do.

There's no definite sign as to whether the revelation that Bungie's project was recently pulled from the E3 lineup will have an affect on the potential announcement.

I don't know about you, but I'm still setting my alarm for 7:06 a.m. Just in case...

I posted this in the nintendo forum because it was in the Nintendo DS section of Ign btw.

Why isn't this in the gaming forum? Edit: Oh...ok...

Just ignore the post above you right.

Microsoft would be stupid to let that happen. But then again I never thought Microsoft would have sold Bungie in the first place so who knows? Its all up in the air atm especially considering the FF multi-platform announcement. Unless I hear otherwise I'm still going to assume they're woking on exclusive 360 projects but I wouldn't at all be surprised to hear otherwise in the current climate.

Oh ok no problem. I wonder why it was there though. This has barely anything to do with the ds.

Heh, yeah, I would be surprised if Bungie was making a DS game.

Hey IGN is stealing my stuff haha. I had said after the cancellation of the thing that its possible that the publisher ain't MS. Someone at IGN is copying me haha. Wonder who.
