Maybe it will be released sooner than we think. My optimistic prediction:
Japan/Asia: June 2009.
NA: Holiday 2009, but if major problems with Xbox port... March 2010.
Pal: 3-6 months after NA launch.

What you are thinking of is the rumor that versus was put on hold, which Square dismissed. 

 

"Reports that development for Final Fantasy Versus XIII is on hold are false. The truth of the situation is that when free, some staff from the Versus team have been helping with the XIII team on development of Final Fantasy XIII. Development for both titles is continuing as originally scheduled."

So I was overstating for saying moved, but I think this is spin from SE.  "When free" I've never heard of any programmer, artist, or engineer in the game industry ever having free time.

Exactly 1 year after Japan release, like every other FF game. If they can get it sooner the better. (this is for EU)

If it's any longer then that, the 360 release as well was a waste of time....then FF12 only came out last year for me, and as i had to wait so many years between FFX and FFXII, I can wait...
