Square Enix said both versions will be the same with the exception of number of discs.

@fazz, the sales are going to be very close. ps3 might be the sales by a small margin.

Xbox360 - The RPG/JRPGs coming out will ensure that the Xbox360 has a good proportion of RPG lovers and probably more than the PS3.

PS3 is just a wannabe shooter console! :P

Outside of Japan it will sell more on the 360. Including Japan, it will sell more for the PS3.

Good move for Square.

Ps3, not only because of Japan , but because By the time FFXIII is released, PS3's sales will have surpassed 360's.

Why is that? I see it out selling the 360 version in all regions, based on the simple fact that a significant number of FF fans bought a ps3 for this game. The sales won't be close at all imo. Also 360 doesn't have the userbase advantage in others, and the gap in america would most likely be smaller.

Those are the same reasons that GTA PS3 was going to outsell GTA Xbox 360 -- and the Xbox 360 ended up outselling GTA PS3 nearly 2-to-1.

Or I could say that the xbox 360 is the JRPG console this generation (this is undisputed), and that the most JRPG fans bought an Xbox 360.

But that, like saying FF fans knew it was coming for PS3 and therefore it will sell more on the PS3 outside of Japan, would be flawed logic.  The simple fact of the matter is that the 360 will still have a huge lead on the PS3 in sales in America when Final Fantasy 13 is released, and in America at least, the Xbox 360 will crush the PS3 for Final Fantasy sales.  Even if Europe is close, or favors the PS3, it probably won't be enough.  It could be close, though.

Then add maybe 2 million sales for Japan for the PS3.

The winner here?  Square.  And all gamers win big time just as they did with the GTA 4 multiplatform release.  The loser, yet again, is Sony.

This is a great decision for square. the move was to make more money.
