This is how Sony fans felt, but it lasted much longer than 10 minutes.
um maybe they are half-making a lot of games, and then waiting to finish them until they are actually needed (like when the wii finally stops being sold out)?
come try out the computer game i've been working on for my high school senior project, titled sling ball. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=47568

current mk wii worldwide sales (jan 9th): 553k
I don't feel ignored. (I did at first, but that was just a knee-jerk reaction.) But I am also not terribly excited. Knowing they will come through is not the same as getting that small taste of what will be. After all, this is a sales and speculation site, and as a Nintendo fan I feel suddenly unarmed.

Bets with Conegamer:
Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.
@Lapsed_gamer OF course I feel the same. I wished they would announce at least something, but that doesn't mean they are abandoning the core as some are led to believe.
| sc94597 said: People who are complaining about nintendo abandoning the Core should just stop now. Do you really think they will abandon some of their most profitable franchises?(Zelda,F-Zero,Starfox,Kirby, Yoshi, etc are games that havn't been released on the wii yet, and sell alot). Of course casual games do too, but that doesn't mean they will abandon other big sellers. This is without mentioning the 3rd party. No matter how you put it, the wii has far better third party support than the GC, and it will just keep increasing. Nintendo isn't the only developer anymore, and there are plenty of games to play. Nintendo will most likely announce more hardcore games when they are ready. They chose not to show them at E3, and that is ok, now please just stop complaining. |
I was about to post something similar.
Nintendo's move makes perfect sense, once you remember what E3 has become.
E3 means nothing to the industry anymore, it doesn't bear the "gold seal" that the event once did. Being the top presenter at E3 is like winning an event in the Special Olympics. I'm sure you all know how that statement ends.
So reflect on Nintendo's move, in lieu of the bland event E3 has become. They chose to show off the titles that they wouldn't show off at the bigger events. They are saving their firepower for the events that matter - TGS, E for Everyone, hell, even GDC.
Sure, I was miffed about wasting an hour and a half on a mediocre presentation, but there are some interesting things if you pull it apart - 1:1 motion sensing, something anti-Wii people have been harping on, no longer something they can claim. Wii Speak(Talk/Chat/Whatever it was) - Another big move pushing communication in videogames on Nintendo systems - maybe something used in CoD 5 as well? Sure, its not new to the other consoles, but is to Nintendo's home consoles.
I think that it may have been a good time to announce an external HD as well, but who knows if that's actually in development or not.
Was it all bad? Did the games look like they sucked? No. Call of Duty World at War looked good, and its funny how people say only GTA for DS was the only core game. CoDWaW, Force Unleashed, also coming to the Wii. So its not a total drought of hardcore games.
You guys need to get a hold of yourself and remember a few key things -
1. E3 is falling apart at the seams. id didnt come, as well as a few other big names. They want no part of E3. This trend will continue until the heads of E3 realize their mistake and convert it back to the old venue, or until there's scarecely anyone attending E3 anymore and it dies.
2. Nintendo is not going to abandon their key franchises or the fanbase that follows them. Just because Nintendo expanded the market does not mean they will alienate their initial userbase. They want EVERYONE playing their games.
3. E3 used to be in May, not July. July is a funky kind of month for developers, its a crunch time to try to get their game done and tested so it can be launched for the holiday season. Sometimes its hard to tell during the summer months if your game will get completed in time for a fall release. If it does not, then there's little reason to announce a game that won't launch until the following year, especially at events more geared to the public.
4. As E for Everyone grows, this will become the proving grounds where each company will drop their huge news on the press and the public. E3 is about investors now, and Nintendo pretty much doesn't need investments at this time.
So, Nintendo fans, RELAX and douse your torches.
The funny thing is they didn't want to see core gamers. They want to see a core game haha. Could have been Kid Icarus or Zelda. All they had to was see it. But not enough just to announce it haha.
I personally liked Nintendo's conference as I felt they announced a lot of stuff. Just maybe not the stuff people wanted to hear who got lost in the hype cough Zelda cough. But it was solid, but still boring haha.
Well I promise I would make a thread if I didn't see good third party support on the wii, but meh I'm too busy playing mk wii to do that.
@Sc
Don't you remenber are bet about retro announcing games on the E3?
