Forums - Nintendo - Animal Crossing

Okay... I thought what if I made a thread asking people what's so appealing about Animal Crossing. What do you like about it? What's so great about this game?

I tried so hard to love this game but it's just so limited in the things you can do. You can't customise the objects, you can't really use that many objects... They're quite useless. You talk to animals, you pay endless debt (damn you Nook)... Now of course you can go online with your friend to his/her town, they can come to yours and soon talk to them... But to do what? You collect many useless fossils and stuff...

I can't see what's fun about this game. What is so likable about it? Could someone explain me?

Who were you playing with, lolita?

Let me illustrate:

I started playing this game with my girlfriend when we first got together(on the Gamecube).  There's nothing like making your gf or bf happy by giving them that cabana dresser that they've been trying to get for weeks.

I don't play online... And seriously what do you do online? Can you interact with your friend? Are they any special activities?

I'm gonna ask my ex-gf and get back to you.. I didn't like it but she did..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

And no I haven't played it with anyone else... Is there any special features?

Also I've seen that video already and the story is very touching but... I don't think you understand what I'm trying to do here. I'm trying to understand what's the goal/point of the game and what's fun about it?

Wii version is online.

Its a large MMO social network, now with voice chat as well. I think I might get little fun out of it, but my kids would certainly thinks its cool. Especially being able to talk and socialize with their other friends. BTW, they're 5/6.

I won't be able to pursuade you.

There is no point to the game.  But...I spent halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas...and even the New Years Countdown on Animal Crossing....in real life.

That is...my girlfriend and I decided to watch the Animal Crossing countdown rather than go out to some New Years party.  And it was tons of fun.  I have no idea why.  I bought the game for her...to see if she could get into video games....but I ended up liking it, too.

You can unlock old-school Nintendo games(you get one in the mail for your birthday).  This was before Virtual Console, of course.

And like I mentioned before...there's just a lot of pleasure to be derived by doing something for someone.  When Chelsea would find something in her mailbox....like a letter...or a new shirt...she'd get really excited/happy and it brought us a little closer I think.

I know this is all cheesy...and I am a hardcore gamer, I promise.  But some things are just unexplainable.

Yeah... I guess some things can't be explained... It's just I was hoping I missed the point of the game and would have fun with it. Thanks for the replies.

Its not possible to explain it should be boring but it isn't....I just gave it to my friend and she is addictied to it and she has no clue why...It's sorta like Nicotine of Video games

Former something....
