Forums - Nintendo - People need to understand something

I've seen across many sites Nintendo fans screaming and moaning how Nintendo had a terrible E3 conference and that they've forsaken the hardcore.  I think people need to understand that, while E3 is very much for the excitement of gamers and showing off new games, it's also a business event, and a media briefing.  At least in the USA, Nintendo is a publicly traded company that has investors that have put their own money in Nintendo in the hopes of making a profit.  What I'm getting at is that Nintendo has to answer to their investors, and they have a responsibility to demonstrate that their business model is profitable.  In this aspect Nintendo surely succeeded with their media briefing.

As a gamer I was just as disappointed as everyone else, but you can't have tunnel vision and think everyone is expecting the same things out of Nintendo as you.  Many were looking to see a continued, profitable business model, and Nintendo delivered.  Besides, we all know there is more E3, and it's very possible some games could be announced, like how SSBB was announced the day after their briefing.

So, you are willing to let Nintendo treat you shittily because they are making money?

If I have to give hats off to anyone it is MS, because they have showed me that they care about getting games for the 360, especially 3rd-party games. I guarantee some money changed hands to get a simultaneous release date in the West with FFXIII.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. I am very disappointed that Nintendo didn't show anything outside of Animal Crossing. However I know Nintendo and they won't go into the holiday season with just Animal Crossing, a core franchise will be announced between now and TGS.

Secondly Nintendo doesn't owe me anything, so there's really no question of me being treated good or bad. They will put out games, and if I'm interested in them I will buy them. If not then I will go somewhere else. And you definitely can't blame Nintendo for trying to make as much money as possible.

kinda sad to see consumers being un-consumer-like.

why not just pull out your wallet and say "take as much as you want from me, you are here to make money, we understand"

QFT, I stuck with Sony because they make the kind of games that I want to play, and I always feel like they have put me first.  Sticking with a company for other reasons is what turns people into fanboys.

This is what ive been saying for a while on another forums i join. Thats why it called Business Summit i was actualy impressed with the sales info and such. i thought the announcement of bundling the WiiMotion with Wii Sport sequal and the other new Wii Speak peripheral was good.

My purpose with this thread is to give a logical explanation for why Nintendo showed what they did at their conference.  Like I said, I too am very disappointed at the lack of big titles, but I can still be rational and understand their reasoning for doing so.

My thinking exactly, although MSFT won.

They are not treating us "shitty". The games ARE in development and WILL come. They just weren't shown at E3. Whoop-de-fucking-do.

Add me for Pokemon, New Leaf, and Fire Emblem, Mario Kart 8.

Yeah, I kinda agree with Broncos, I mean, it's still upsetting for us gamers who've been getting hyped by rumours and speculation for months, but from a business point of view, it makes a whole lot of sense.
Also, if you seriously, honestly believe Nintendo, being the huge gigantic bigass company that they are, with all their different studios and substudios and developers and programmers and artists etc etc, plus all their second parties, are only working on WiiMusic (been in development for years), Wii Sports Resort, Mario Sluggers (Pretty much done, will release next month) and Animal Crossing right now, you're gonna have to have your head examined.
