Not so unnecessary when somebody in the post directly above says the console is, in fact, a must have.

I think many of the gamers here does not understand the significance of this announcement unless you are an asian gamer.

Squaresoft games are the most deciding factor of console purchase more so for asian gamers than western country gamers. The fact is not that FFXIII will go multi-plateform but most of us know Japanese game makers and consumers for the most part are very patriotic. The mere fact that Square-Enix made the choise to go multi-plateform with Xbox 360 is very monumental. The failure of Sony's part for keeping this game staying exclusive cannot be judged face value (do I make sense?) After all, sony had all the advantages and they still failed.

Right now on most major gaming forums throughout asia all agreed Sony is officially defeated this E3, many are cursing for the fact that we had to stay up past midnight just to see the lame show Sony put through (this comment are mostly made by sony supporters).

This is jokingly been posted but very well true a typical day for Taiwanese gamers in July 15th (we are a day ahead of USA)

Get up in the morning to turn on computer

See the news on web about E3 and stunned + Fall silence for 1 minute for the news to soak in

Go to bank around noon and cash out

Get a Xbox 360 and sell PS3

(If VGchartz has been tracking asia sells numbers (apart from Japan obviously) then maybe they can back my claim)

So you know the model for asian gamers and more then everyone else about the significance of this deal? I'm sorry but you are gonna need some empyrical evidence to state these kind of claims of which there is none.

It will help 360 stay strong in the North America. Elsewhere, it probably won't make much difference.

I need to apologise that I cannot supply any statistic evidence to back up my claim as we do not keep any reliable record for our region sells (hence my reason for visit to this site).

To answer your question (apologise again without numbers) I for one do not know more then my own opinion, but unlike the public here expressed, the defeat of Sony in this E3 is not a debated subject but a fact where I am from. And lastly I will leave you with this, if you can point me to any one asian gaming or community forums that contradict with my claim, I will be greatful if you point that out to me, I can read chinese, japanese and english and sorry no Korean.

The answer for me was BR.

It doesn't mean an awful much, really... by the time FF13 comes out the PS3 can outsell the X360, and then the game sales will be on the Sony side. Also, vsFF13 is still an exclusive (let's hope it stays that way) and FF players are known for being rather hardcore, so they will want to play vs too, for that they'll hopefully need a PS3. Therefore, they can get both games on the same system, so the reason to get a PS3 for FF is still there, the financial blow to Sony is not that severe, but it's like some dude in this thread said, dirt in the face... and that feels awful. But if M$ got MGS4 or god forbid GT5, then the PS3 would be in hellishly serious trouble.

What money, they didn't give Square anything. SE came to them. FFXIII is well over budget and they actually want to break at least break even on the game.

i think it means that S-E loves microsofts money, and that its main IPS will come to the 360. If FF13 is coming, i see no reason to believe that KH3 isn't.
