Anyone have a trailer? I heard there was in-game footage. The idea sounds pretty epic, but of course the in-game footage is where we have to go to know what it will be like.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

It seemed to be more of an in game movie than game play. Couldn't tell if it was game engine or pre-rendered, maybe some of both.

p.s MAg looks awesome and the potential for this to be fun will be amazing. They kept going on about scale in this game. I wouldn't be surprised if the area you fight in are humongous. You cant squeeze 256 players in a small field.

256 people is a lot to organise, agreed. However, it is not impossible. Games are about having fun, especially online gaming. Some may be more serious gamers whilst some are out to pass some time mildly entertaining themselves. So if you have 7 other friends online, you can form a squad and go online and kick the crap out of another squad on a battlefield that will have several other squads. It will be mayhem like no other and it will reign chaos and destruction. If done right, this will probably be one of the most addictive games for an online experience!

I think each squad will get it´s own briefing. You will fight against an other squad or team-based against other squads. When your squad has lost your squad will spawn somewhere else on the huge map. And start against a squad that also has lost. If your squad wins you will follow your path. It's like following a "storyline". Briefings are simple like defend the bridge or cross the river.

Mag looks very good and it could be a premiere on consoles.

Still ,it doesnt make up for the loss of FFXIII exclusivity.

I said this in my other thread but I'll say it again here:

How is it that no game even comes close to using 80% of the PS3's SPU's yet MAG is already pushing the PS3 to its limits? I don't know, this just doesn't seem exciting yet and seems like they're just going for quantity over quality to me. I seem to remember saying KZ2 was going to push the PS3 to its limits and I guess it's not even close to 80% of its power now.

Personally, I think this game is a mixture of all talk/hype and just impressing people with huge numbers.

your a dev.. devs always talk about pushing limits. I think they are meaning pushing limits of current knowledge of the console.

True, but I'm just talking about how a year ago KZ2 was pushing the PS3 to its limit but now it's not even using 80% of the PS3's SPU's. This year MAG is pushing the hardware to its limit but next year is it only going to be using 80% of the SPU's too?

Just watched the conference and no one said anything about Killzone only tapping into 80% of the PS3's power. One 3rd Party dev (I believe someone from 2K Marin) said they hadn't hit 80% and were suspecting that no one else has hit 80%. Stop trying to make it sound like Sony has said these things.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

And I think it's pretty clear that Zipper doesn't intend anyone to organize 256 people. (Why would one single person be organizing both teams anyway??? ;) ) There's 8 person squads for a very good reason. Most likely each squad will have a very specific objective (something like "sneak behind enemy lines" or "blow up anti-aircraft launchers"), while the over-arching mission could be something as simple as "defeat the red enemy." Penalty for not completing your squad's mission within a certain time limit could mean your squad is booted from the game and you have to move on to a new battle while all the other squads continue to fight it out through their little objectives.

It's really not that difficult to see how this works. I came up with all that in 5 minutes. I'm sure an accomplished developer could do much better.
