Forums - Sony - The Officiall Sony E3 Thread

So, was MAG the secret game?

So what else was I shown? Well, I was shown a trailer for a game not due out till 2009 but was sworn to absolute secrecy. Apparently, Sony just wanted to give a glimpse of what the console will be capable of.

In fact, the game is such a secret that when I mentioned the game to Phil Harrison last week he was unsure at first whether even to admit the title existed. When I explained I had been shown it under strict Non Disclosure Agreement terms he looked relieved.

I don't mean to be a tease - all I can say is that I was left speechless. If the footage I was shown truly is "in game", as told to me by the Sony PR people, then we could be on the brink of a step change in what games consoles are capable of in terms of story-telling and immersion.

And there I'll leave it. Feel free to speculate on what I was shown. I cannot, of course, confirm or deny what it was....

Anyway, 256 players is mental, really interested in that game. Was hoping for more WKS and other RPG details, but as someone else pointed out, TGS is probably the place for that.

Certainly the best presented of all three, and glad there was no focus on casual stuff as in the previous two.

Im not to sure how you guys rate these shows or on what context.

I look at these shows as if i owned all three or neither of them and I was to decide on watching the show which system I would go for depending on what they show and offer. I would therefore be looking for which console offered the most in the show and possibly for the least amount of money but for the greatest value. Sony clearly offered the most as well as the most value for money and therefore won the show (IMO).

If you rate it based on who stole the most and therefore pleased many Fanboys and angered rival console owners, MS won by light years. If you were rating the show based on who had the most physically engaging and practical gaming on offer, the Wii won hands down.

One thing for sure. Nintendo didn't win....

Meh...I thought it was MS > Sony > Nintendo. FF XIII was easily the biggest talked thing and that's what made them win IMO. Sony did good...but MS just blew everything away.

Megaton =/= winning a conference.

People are also forgetting the PSP announcements.

Resistance PSP, LocoRoco 2, Patapon 2, downloading Movies to your PSP. Crazy good announcements.

And people are forgetting PSN games too. Ratchet and Clank: Quest For Booty among others.

you have to analyse and see why it was a megaton if you are to claim this made MS a winner. It was a megaton in the sense that it started fanboy wars and huge threads. Yes, in which case it definitely is a winner. From a neutral perspective did it offer much to the presentation or to the world of gaming? No! It just announced another multi platform game(except for Japan which has ps3 Exclusivity).

All sounds good, missed it but will catch key points. One thing though, any mention of PS1 downloadable games?

Just have to wait and see what the major publishers/developers have now.

Hmm, pie.

They had some seens in the gameplay montages during the ocnference.

Also, IGN has something for Killzone 2 on their E3 list at 3:30 today.

I was reading another thread on here and apparently nintendo and Sony are holding the good shit back for leipzig and TGS. Don't ask me why, but it kinda of makes sense. if they show everything now, they will be nothing to show at the other events. So they show a bit now and get mouths watering, show some more later in Leipzig and finish it all of in TGS. I believe the TGS is the biggest one of the three?
