Lord THE Night Knight.
As for the player, I'm not shocked those stores aren't into obscure brand names. Yet even that is a sign of what's coming for hi-def prices.

This really may be the death of hd-dvd. Br is easily winning outside of the US, but now the NPD (according to Sony) says the following.

SEPT. 5 | DENVER—Blu-ray Disc set-top players within the last 12 weeks have begun out-selling HD DVD set-top players, according to recent NPD Group research cited by Sony Electronics.
Sony touted the reversal of HD DVD’s long-running stand-alone dominance during its Wednesday press conference at CEDIA.
Sony VP Chris Fawcett declined to provide exact market share percentages of the two sides.
He said the change occurred mostly due to the introduction of Sony’s $499 player.
""""Sony’s $499 player.""""
==> are they referring to the PS3 or to a real stand alone BR player ?

HD DVD must have more lives than cats do. Unfortunately for Sony the news isn't quite true, the market lead they talk about it based on player sales revenue!, not units sold. Nice try but HD DVD still sells more standalone units than Blu Ray.

So, I guess the HD-DVDomination is going to start any day now huh?
HDDvd last stand is the US.
The 360 add on has helped alot, but every other market its really getting killed by the PS3.
Outselling does NOT kill a rival. LOSING MONEY kills the rival. This is why it's a lie that HD-DVD is dying, as both formats are approaching profitability.
