http://techdigest.tv/2007/08/ifa_2007_livebl.html Bluray discs are outselling HD-DVD 3:1 in Western Europe at the moment, since the launch of the PS3.

http://www.n4g.com/industrynews/News-63996.aspx Blu-ray Disc sales across Europe have reached 250,000

Most European HD DVD owners buy their movies in the US, because they are cheaper and WE can.

So when they say BD sales in NA are beating HD HDVD sales by a margin of 2 to1 what they actually mean is BD sales in NA are beating HD DVD sales in NA and Europe (since MOST EU HD DVD owners get them from america) by 2 to 1 .

One of the things I love about HDDVD is that its region free.

so is blu-ray

Good lord. All I can say is that Toshiba and Sony must be bleeding money from the ears in an attempt to win this war. 8 free discs? Yikes.

Studio Canal is now supporting Blu-RAy as well as HDDVD. Previous SC was exclusively a HDDVD supporter but the force is strong within Sony and they have decided to support both formats now.

Not thet SC ever said that they were HD DVD exclusive anyway, but rumours of a single film hardly warrants a new item.

No, SC never did say that they would be exclusive for any format, but when studios tend to stick to a plan, and don't tend to do odd things, say Universal shipping out an odd BD movie here or there, then I beleive that you could very well tend to think of these abnormalities as signs that things are changing.

At the Consumer Electronics symposium, Acer has announced that after they buy Gateway, they will start offering Blu-ray drives and burners.....I didn't even know that they were going to buy Gateway but whatever thats irrelevent

Loewe has announced that they will be producing a high-end and very aesthetic looking Blu-ray player. I've seen pictures of what they plan to put out, and it looks great. This was just announced today.

Also just announced today, Sharp plans on selling their first Blu-ray player soon.

Just announced today at the IFA Consumer Electronics show, Phillips is also planning on selling a new BD player. This player will be available soon across Europe so stay tuned.

There have been a few more BD players announced but I'll stop posting about that...haha, here is something else announced today: China's Hualu Group Co, a company that has a lot of support and I could be wrong about this but Hualu seems to be one of those quasi corporation quasi governmental agencies which basically means that if true, then BD has the chinese government's blessing.
