That the FF13 announcement also on the 360 is of the same magnitude as Warner announcing it was ending HD DVD support?

And ... will this announcement affect hardware sales positively for the PS3 or 360?

I felt numb reading from PS3 folks how hurt/betrayed and shafted they felt. I played just one Final Fantasy, but I think it's apparent that Sony has been on cruise control for the past years and living on street cred.

Kudoes to M$ for landing FF13. That IS a major blow to Sony. I do not think Sony was expecting this annoucement.

Now, Snake slitering to the 360 would just top all.

Discuss.

No, it's obviously not the same magnitude. The equivalent would be Warner announcing Bluray support, not dropping HD-DVD support.

I don't think this will have a massive effect on console sales. But it will definitely boost XBox360 sales and diminish PS3 sales. I don't think it'll be a drastic game changer, but it obviously hurts the PS3, which needs every bit it can get.

Cmon, this isn't even close. Warner left HD-DVD with nothing. FF XIII is still on the PS3.

I really don't see this having a hugh effect on sales until the release date for FF XIII gets closer. Realistically, FF XIII is still 2 years away for NA and EU. By then it would not be surprising if the PS3 was ahead of the 360 in install base.

For business, smaller.
For gamers, bigger.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

no because HD DVD died. FFXIII is still on the PS3, exclusive in Japan, and has the fanbase, which if LO, Blue Dragon, Enchanted Arms, Eternal Sonata, Culdacept Saga, etc. have any relevance, the 360 does not have.

I think this is a huge game changer. One of the biggest Sony exclusive franchises goes multiplat. I told a longtime FF fan who hasn't played video games in a while to get his response. I could hear him wincing.

I liken this to a good football getting stuffed by an underdog - and finally is driving toward the endzone and tosses an interception that gets run back deep into the opponent's territory. No, it's not a grand-slam, but it's definitely a homerun and a devastating blow to Sony and their loyal fans who touted FF was a reason to own a PS3.

EVEN IF Sony pulls it out and miraculously wins this gen, folks will look back on blunders and talk about this one and say this blunder slowed Sonydomination down tremendously. Exclusivity was necessary for this title. It's a huge loss for $ony.

I still fail to see how this news is a drastic game changer.  Sure there will be people who will buy an XBox360 over a PS3 or won't buy a PS3 anymore.  But the fact is that FF13 is still going to be on the PS3.  If it were announed that FF13 were an XBox360 exclusive, then yes, I could see it being a drastic game changer.  As is, it's just another game that's gone multiplatform.

Don't look too hard, you'll strain your eyes. It's obvious why it's a game changer: this was the biggest exclusive sony had left besides MGS4.  Now, we just have to see what happens at E3 for sony... That will really, really decide if it is a game changer. (09' titles)

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

i think this would boost xbox360sales in NA and total Others. there are still those who are waiting for FFXIII to come out before buying a ps3 (plus hoping that it would go down in price). witht FFXIII going multiplat, plus the fact that the xbox360 is cheaper than the ps3, i think this would boost sales as many would be ps3 buyers waiting for ffxiii may opt to buy the much cheaper x360.
