Forums - Nintendo - A good idea on how to launch the motion-plus

Well, I think we all figure the obvious, that Nintendo will launch the new Motion-Plus addon with a minigame type collection that shows off its functionality, kinda like Wii-Play.

However, I think that the motion-plus device is meant to appeal also, or prehaps mainly, to a core audience who knows that the Wii-mote needed tweeking or even what 1:1 movement ratio means.

If, as speculation indicates, a new Zelda game is indeed in development, launching this item for free with the Zelda game, ala Wii Wheel/Mario Kart, would be a great way to make sure that your distribution covered most of your core gamers, at the same time allowing Nintendo to require the motion-plus to play Zelda. Afterall, Wii sports doesn't really need any improvement on the control department, so I see this device as more of a single player game improvement(meaning one might be enough for most households) and a Zelda packin would supply that.

To take it a step further, Zelda could have 1:1 minigames built in as well as many kojima-esque minigames to take advantage of the new functionality of the M-P.

One of the major problems I see with this is that Zelda's release will probably not coincide with the release of the motion-plus. However, if Zelda is to require motion-plus, then imo, it will need to come packaged with the game.

So, imo, Nintendo should do both. They should release Motion Plus now with a minigame collection to show casuals the improved functionality of the Wii-Mote that 1:1 can offer, and then, later package Zelda with a free motion-plus device at $49.99. Afterall, you can never have too many motion pluses.

This would also potentially boost Zelda software sales, as consumers view Zelda+Motionplus as a better value than Mini-game+motion plus, as well as allow Zelda to appear fresh by being the first core AAA title to take full advantage of the device.

It could be good marketing. Doubt it will happen, but it is interesting speculation.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I'd rather would like to see a new F-Zero being bundled with that new peripheral something. I have no idea how it would work for F-Zero, but I don't care. Just give me a worthy successor to X, I have been waiting for ten years.

lol, you just want F-Zero. That's what this is all about.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I remember Surfer Girl said there was a first-person Zelda game being developed. I doubted it then, and I still do, but with this new dongle it may well be the ideal game to bundle it with: Link's Swordfighting training. You don't move your character, you just control the sword, thereby easing players into a new genre.

maybe it is gonna be used for the new kid icarus game. but yea i'm confused why they would release 2 days before their thing.

I'm guessing due to it getting a lot of questions speculation out of peoples minds and then they can present it better this way. But they must have a great presentation planned for it.

You know I hadn't thought of that, lol

The mini-game bundle could BE Zelda.

Nintendo is like one step ahead of me, that's how they do their business, cause I'm like right there with Microsoft and Sony and Nintendo's doing checkmates.

you didn't like the gamecube one ? How bout nintendo publish the conduit and bundle it with it . Fps with 1:1 controls on the wii would be awesome .....However I realllllly want to see Starfox Wii bundled with it N64 style of course GC assault version sucked !

They wouldn't release this with a full fledged zelda game cause they want it out by this year.

Maybe something like crossbow training is more likely.

I also want a new Wave Race.

Damn... doubly well said.

@Brawl4life.
I can't say I liked Lylat Wars al that much, I remember it being ok in multiplayer as I played it at my friends house, but it is my most regretted Virtual Console purchase so far.

I need to know how it's going to be used before I start making more predictions...

If it is casual I hope you get two or more so you can all play with the dongle. They don't look too expensive (it's probably just another accelerometer, newer).

But who knows. Nintendo always surprises me with their ridiculous creativity. Honestly, Hiroshi Yamauchi and Satoru Iwata had/have such an incredible eye for talent.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
