MS's JRPG strategy has been pretty masterful. First they funded Mistwalker. Then they bought out a bunch of Namco Bandai exclusives, then seemed to buy out Tri-Ace (Infinite Undiscovery and Star Ocean), and now have secured FFXIII without directly buying it out.

I think this is really bad for JRPG fans that own PS3s and even Wiis. The past has shown that JRPG developers tend to flock to a particular system, and with FFXIII safely in MS's hands, the 360 is without a doubt, the JRPG home console console. Then again, the PS3 will get some multiplatform games. The Wii on the other hand will have to rely on its low budget to draw developers and so far that doesn't seem to be working out.

I think we should wait to see the sales before judging it. While the 360 is getting alot of exclusive JRPGs, most of them are being developed for handhelds. After the handheld I see the developement going to the next best thing Wii, or Multiplatform 360/ps3. Jrpgs seem to be more split this generation. I do think the wii will get the most though at the end of the generation just because how niche Jrpgs are outside of japan, and the wii seems to be growing fast in all regions. I think we should wait a little longer before naming a console Jrpg console of this generations. And while the 360 has more, both the ps3 and Wii have quite a few of their own.

This generation is already 2-3 years through and MS has locked up Final Fantasy and Star Ocean for their RPGs for the next 2+ years. On top of that, the DS has locked up Dragon Quest and a bunch of others. I hate to say it, but I think the 360(and therefore the PS3 to a smaller extent) and the DS have locked up the JRPGs for this generation

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

This is just a bad bad case of translation.

Here is the REAL translation:

1:04- Shane from 1UP asks about Japan and the Xbox 360 version. He says that he hears that it is not coming to Japan. Hashimoto confirms that is is not coming out in Japan for the Xbox 360. As for Infinite Undiscovery, it is a 360 exclusive. Last Remnant will also be at first, but will probably be a PS3 title later.

I still say we should wait an see. The ds didn't get any of its big rpg announcements to just about last year-this year so we don't know yet.

i simply dont give a fuck about this game, ff13 versus better be good, hell i might not even buy ff13, since personally i dont like multiplatform games.

Also we have yet to see what TGS has in store for all consoles. I think it will be even bigger than E3 for the Wii and DS.

Thanks for the right translation. I couldn´t really believe that M$ wasn´t involved with IU, since this started with their initiative.
