i don't really understand why john lucas is so adamant on mgs4 not going to ps3, but hey, it's a prediction that can be proven wrong. which i like--unlike so many of the mutterings here that are worded such that they can't be proven wrong, ever. those are MEANT to annoy. yes, it feels good to say them, but they're what make fanboys look bad.
enough about that, john lucas is so gonna eat his words when mgs4 comes out on ps3. i don't know about being exclusive or not, but it's been in development for over a year and there's no doubt there's definitely a version for the ps3, otherwise it's development money down the drain. if it's not coming for the ps3, we should know it by now.
as poorly as the ps3 is selling, we're not witnessing the exodus of games going to the wii. yet. unlike previous generations, the power level difference is substantial this generation, and the wii and 360/ps3 divide seem wider than ever, and it's taking developers time to be convinced of the wii for "hardcore" games. the ds is outselling the psp by a ton in japan but there're still great games for the psp, many exclusive. the division in the genre of games on the psp and the ds will play out on the wii and 360/ps3 at least in the short term--but enough so the MGS4 will have come out for the ps3 already. if Wii maintains its momentum amid big hitters like Halo, GT5 and GTA, which is highly likely, thanks to out-of-the-blue things like Wii Health and staples like Brawl and Galaxy, the exodus from the playstation camp will start in genuine. after the rest of the games currently being developed get released in 2008, including MGS4, wii will become the development platform of choice, keeping in mind the ds/psp game ratios.
so... looks like lucas is gonna be wrong on: Wii catching 360 in july, and MSG4. well, i think there's still a 25% chance wii can catch 360 in july, with big shipments coming to the US currently and big games coming out next month in Japan. we'll see if the first of John Lucas's predictions either come true, or fall flat.
right or wrong, John Lucas is still the man.
