Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why is FFXIII's multi-plat announcement a death blow to Sony again >_>?

^GT 5 is not released yet :s;..

I don't think this announcement will have any HUGE affect on sales as of now , but later on we will see if it did something substantial or not.

IMO, the game line-ups for the rest of this year and the first half of 2009 are still in favor of Nintendo and Sony, so some people will still buy the ps3 and Wii over the 360 after some research. BUT, Sony has GOT to lower the price of the ps3 sometime this year... somehow...

I think that this announcement won't be too detrimental for ps3 sales over the next year or so

Blow for sony, but people make out that it will propel microsoft forward, if GTA multiplatform and exclusive downloadable content didn't do it, then FF 13 won't either

Hi, i'm solojohlo and i'm pretty fucking awesome

Well, I don't know but it wouldn't make sense for them not to look the same(and by that I mean jaw dropping) It seems the only reason you are complaining is because it's not an exclusive??? You know Square is going to make this a masterpiece for both systems. The only thing one might have over the other is load times. By the screen shots I've seen this looks simply amazing and Square isn't the company to cut back in the graphics department so I really don't understand.

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.

Well, the PS3 just hasn't sold as much software WW as the 360, so this isn't that surprising now that I've heard the news. The thing of it is though, is that the difference in MS's and Sony's sales has been getting a lot smaller and as a lot of people expect, will continue to get smaller.

I suspect that because the PS3 sells less, they just didn't want to pay whatever SE was demanding that they pay to keep FFXIII exclusive to Sony, so they just opted for the multiplat alternative.

Either way, as the PS3 sells more, and catches up to the 360, they won't have to bribe the developers as much, and this reduction in cost will help a lot when we see all of the big 3's financial statements. Less cost = more profit.

Its a huge deal for Sony. Its funny how PS3 owners take this so lightly but for the past year or so everyone has been claiming how amazing the title would be and how much it would give to the PS3.

FF13 was probably the next biggest app for the PS3 coming. MGS4, FF13 and God Of War 3 I would say. So no matter what your thoughts are it is a huge blow to Sony's game lineup.

Star Ocean 4 and FF13 on the 360...thats JRPG for you.

I guess this is one clue as to why FFXIII is taking so long to put out. :-/

I agree with you ChronotriggerJM.

I am more worried about how compromised FF13 will end up.

These huge games coming to the 360 have a cumulative effect, its not just one game its a trend. PS3 sales will definitely be hugely effected in the west, you can count on that. May not do much in the short run but in the long run as these systems get cheaper gamers start looking more at how many good games are in each systems library.

This game was poised to make a lot of potential buyers (like me) take the plunge and buy the PS3. Sony will lose a heck of a lot of those buyers that it could have banked on until a few short hours ago. Make no mistake, this is a big blow and its implications run deeper than just the fact that FFXIII is multiplatform.
