Well, the PS3 just hasn't sold as much software WW as the 360, so this isn't that surprising now that I've heard the news. The thing of it is though, is that the difference in MS's and Sony's sales has been getting a lot smaller and as a lot of people expect, will continue to get smaller.

I suspect that because the PS3 sells less, they just didn't want to pay whatever SE was demanding that they pay to keep FFXIII exclusive to Sony, so they just opted for the multiplat alternative.

Either way, as the PS3 sells more, and catches up to the 360, they won't have to bribe the developers as much, and this reduction in cost will help a lot when we see all of the big 3's financial statements. Less cost = more profit.
