Wow, now we get what Iwata meant by helping Sony but not help Sony.

So the game is exclusive on PS3 in Japan. Weird. You would think that Microsoft would want to the game released in Japan mostly because of the horrible sells. I bet there is an option in a contract somewhere that is Infinate Undiscovery or Last Reminant sells alot and push Xbox consoles to respectable number in Japan, that they will bring game to Japan for X360.

It absolutely, unbelievably sucks. And they're not even starting work on the 360 version until the JP version is done. Maybe Crystal Tools makes porting super easy, but I don't remember hearing about any ports this generation taking less than a year to complete. We could honestly be looking at 2011 for this thing. I hope I'm exaggerating.

At least they're doing full development on PS3 first, so this won't gimp that version. (No, that wasn't a knock against the 360. I mean that most games developed for both platforms tend to be built around the weaknesses of both consoles rather than their strengths, and both versions become less than they ought to be).

This is stuiped to me, SE has been developing ff13 for the ps3 for 2 years and all of a sudden NA/ERU gamers have to wait a year for the 360 port to be done. it should be time released for the ps3 across the board and have the 360 owners wait a year+ for the game. cuz the PS3 for all regions should be almost done.

That significantly diminishes the blow of losing the FF13 exclusivity because Japan is the place where Final Fantasy moves consoles in droves. It's still huge though but Sony must be pretty smart. They know they couldn't get into a bidding war with Microsoft for full exclusivity and probably spent much less locking Japan.

Every since the game was delayed to 2009 it was practically 2010 confirmed for the west. As I've said before, SE takes for ever to localize the western versions of Final Fantasy. If the game hits the west more than 9 months after the Japanese versions release, then it you can say it was delayed by the 360 version.

the way i read it i would think it goes like this
Game is made on PS3 then it goes on hold while the 360 version is done.
It gets released on PS3 in Japan
1 month later it gets released at the sametime around the world on PS3 and 360.
Then gets released in Japan on 360.

The thing people have to remember this generation is not the same as the last. In near 2 years only 2m PS3's have sold. Where as in Japan 600k 360's have been sold. In a month 40k-60k are sold compared to the 150k-250k in america and 200k-400k in Europe. Japan is now 3rd place region wise. From a buisness point of view it makes far more sense for MS to battle Sony in places it can dominate it and that is never going to be in Japan this gen. In USA and Europe people will see they can play this game for £150 on the 360 and £300 on the PS3. With the current financial climate more and more people will choose the cheaper console simply because it's cheaper. There is no way MS could win in Japan even if it had FFXIII there. But neither can Sony. But in USA the 360 is starting to out-sell the PS3 again and it will take something huge for Sony to claw back the 7m there, i don't think they will. So really the battle ground is europe. UK is selling more 360's then PS3's but other countries it is the other way round. But overall in europe it is perfectly balanced and can go either way. So if the 360 starts to out-sell the PS3 in europe then that will be seen more as a victory. If the 360 beats PS3 in europe and USA then that will knock them out of the race. 6m PS3's have been sold in Europe and 7m 360's. That is 3 times what has been sold in Japan. So personally i think from a buisness point of view it makes more sense to take on the areas you can kill off the PS3's big numbers then go after it's small ones.

I'm pissed. Instead of a WW release or just waiting for localization, I have to wait for them to develop the whole game on the Xbox360 before they can release FFXIII on the PS3 in NA and EU...
Not only was the exclusive stolen but FFXIII also got delayed everywhere else save for Japan.....
I guess it's about time I outgrew this genre.

I just read it, it says they are undecided weather it will come to japan on 360 or not.
