Forums - Microsoft - Too Human Demo is up!

I got the demo and played before the E3 conference.

Graphics - Nothing special. Not bad, not great, framerate is pretty steady throughout. Character models were decent in the cutscenes. There were times where 30 or 40 enemies are onscreen at once(on a bridge and they rush you in waves).

Gameplay - The combat took me a while to get the hang of. Once I realized not to keep flicking the stick in the direction of the enemies and just roll it around in their direction I was destroying them by the boat loads. Makes you feel like a god. The projectile controls are good with primary fire mapped to the right trigger and the secondary fire mapped to the left trigger and you aim with the right stick(with pistols you can shoot the two in different directions). I got a bad ass two handed sword that I had to level up to level 4 before I could use it. Lots of loot i the game. Already gotten like 2 pieces of each type of armor, several guns, lots of weapons, I never got any individual runes but I got some weapons and armor with some on them already. The skills I leveled up enough to get were passive. I got to where I could juggle enemies fairly well, it takes two flicks of the stick towards the enemy and then you have to jump up and flick at them again. Camera isn't very good though, pretty much my only complaint so far. You could only pick from one class out of five.

Sound - I like the music and the sound effects were decent. There was a good line in one of the cutscenes("Monsters tell tales of me to their children to scare them")(something like this).

Overall I like it. Gonna buy it because the looting bug has already gotten a hold of me.

This was the game that I was really looking forward to on the 360, not Halo, Gears or Fable. I've known from the start that this game wouldn't appeal to everyone. I think the people that rip on it aren't even into this type of game and haven't really been exposed to it.

It's not going to have the best graphics. It's supposed to be an MMO type of game. With all the different variables in these types of games, such as weapons and armor, your not going to get the best graphics all the time. Everything needs to be able to mix and match while being able to run descently in the engine. The graphics do look simple at times, but I don't mind.

This game falls in the Phantasy Star Online category. Being a major PSO fan when it was first released and almost pissed myself when I first played it online, I knew I would love this type of game. Phantasy Star Universe was a disappointment. I tried to like it, but couldn't really get into it. It took a step backwards, I think.

The controls actually make sense. Right analog stick is used to wield your sword. The left and right triggers are used to dual wield guns. The lose of the right analog stick to view was kinda strange. I kept trying to use it to change view. The only control you really have with the camera is with LB, which straightens your view out. What was helpful was being able to change perspectives. Zooming out further helped out with the camera. overall I don't mind the camera too much. Once I figured out the controls, I was content.

My only disappointment is that they took out 4 player co-op and made it 2. But if I would have never known that it was 4 player co-op to begin with, I would have never been disappointed.

From playing the demo, I am impressed. It takes the PSO concept and brings it to the next level. This is what PSU should have been. I'm definitely getting this game.

^^ I concur.

But then again, I'm also the type of person that likes Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom. Controls were awful, load times were awful, but collecting the best loot is addicting. Too Human is definitely way better than that game in all categories.

So if you liked Circle of Doom, which is pretty hard to like, then you should definitely pick this one up.

I played the demo this morning so here are my thoughts:
Graphics: I found them good for a type of a game that they are going for with Too Human but because of my sucky SDTV I had to sit very close to the screen so I could read the text and several times I would not be able to read certain words. I had the same problem with Dead Rising, from what I hear that happens when the game text is made for HD, thus looking too blurry to read on SDTVs.

Controls: I got used to them quite quickly and after that I was going Devil May Cry 4 on my enemy's, I just beat DMC so it was kinda fun throwing an enemy up in the air and then shoot him with a rifle as he was coming down. It took me a while to realize that flicking the right control stick would result me in throwing enemies up, so I would throw enemies up in the air too much and not do enough damage.

Story: I like the combination of Norse mythology and Sci-Fi but besides that not much was revealed so I cant tell. Voice Acting was good, and I can feel that there is something cool that's going to happen.

In conclusion, I still dont know whether I am going to buy this game when it comes out. I am most likely going to wait for more reviews. Since I have an Edge card and I get occasional 25% off used 360 games coupon in email I might just pick it up at 35% discount. It also depends if I am allowed to have offline co-op. I hate when games only allow online co-op, considering that my roommate has a 360 and we share games so we rarely get two copies of the same game.

I have the same problem when I play Lost Odyssey so I can relate to that.  The VA is good IMO.

My gripes with Too Human are;
This game is being pushed By M$ as the next big thing, and it's not!

The game will be too short for an RPG, perfect for an action game like heavenly Sword, but this is NOT an action game, [I love both these genres]!

The game is good, but constantly feels like it's missing many things and never feels smooth. The story as well feels this way, kinder lost somewhere.

Overall it feels like the soul Reaver series to me, good but laking something and just missing it's mark. Rental for me.

@gebx
Your a TROLL and a TOOL! Who cares what u think of Haze or Lair, just get a life!

@Kowenicki
I played through MGS4 the first time in 28 hrs! So many things to do and experiment with. U can play anyway you wish to. The second time I finished it in 8, but rushing through it. These times do not include cut scenes either, so add many more hrs to these!

Playing and finishing games first>>>>>>>>>>Then talking!

Opinions are subjective and just like moods, can change.

TOP 12: Deus Ex, Shadow Man, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturn, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Metroid Prime, Zelda (series), Uncharted (series), FF Tactics, Persona (series), Demons Souls, Vagrant Story.

MOST WANTED: Deus Ex: Human Revolution, The Last Guardian, ICO/Shadow OTC HD

If the coop gameplay is any good, I might buy it. The demo was pure button mashing however I never saw the frame rate drop even with waves upon waves of enemies. The friendly NPCs were completely worthless.

Currently playing on PS3: God of War III

Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII

Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger

I played the demo, it lasted about an hour for me.

Story seemed decent from what little was shown.

At the beginning of the demo I wasn't feeling the combat but towards the end I started to get into it.

I think with the negative hype around the game reviews are going to be all over the place. I would put it in the 7/10 category for me so far.

It went from no interest to a rental for sure. Maybe a purchase when the price drops.
