Hm lets see how good my Microsoft sources were (article is from two weeks ago):
Microsoft at E3
Seemingly endless rumors abound about what Microsoft will do at E3. Speaking to sources and using common sense, we can divide the main rumors into ‘likely’, ’50-50’, and ‘unlikely’, though in order to keep getting information from sources anonymity and vagueness are required.
Likely
1) Microsoft will announce a price drop for all three skus in the Americas. Earlier this year Microsoft has dropped the price of Xbox 360 in Asia, Australia and Europe so the Americas should be next. The hesitation is because the USA & Canada are clearly Microsoft’s best market and the least in need of a price cut. My guess: Xbox 360 will cost $229/$299/$399 by the end of Microsoft Press Conference. (Wrong: Only the Pro saw a price cut)
2) Microsoft has three major accessibility rumors circulating: Avatars ala Miis, a really important dashboard update, and motion sensing rumors (Newton?). Two of the three will be shown, but one will be saved for later. (Avatars - Check, Big Dashboard update - copied "Wii Channels". Thats 2 out of 3. I think my source may have mixed up Lips with real motion sensing? Not sure though)
3) A well integrated (and fairly major service) that isn’t gaming related will be added to the Live Marketplace (I was told it would be Net Flix and that panned out).
50-50
1) Rare will be behind at least one of the accessibility rumors circulating, if they turn out true (Not sure).
2) The mixed big scenario. Some sources believe that some of Microsoft’s initiatives will be disappointing relative to what ‘people expect’ while others will be ‘unexpectedly great’…especially in the so called ‘casual sector’. These sources of course have different ideas about ‘what people expect’ making the whole expectation game a little silly (The Movie Game looked interesting, the rest of it was kind of meh at least in my eyes, this one is very subjective though).
Unlikely
1) Whoever started the ‘Sony is buying Rare’ rumor is apparently a “complete idiot” according to sources. The same sources put the odds at less than 10,000:1 (Duh. Correct)
